Check Valve Pics ?
Check Valve ? We had a minor setback
on our way home from Destin on Friday… when pulled over the change
drivers I couldn’t get the steering wheel to come down to the driving
position then noticed the air had dropped to 60psi… so we went to
check the engine compartment and immediately found a big leak… hissing
like crazy.The back had blown off the valve and we found the three parts lying
under the valve…. luckily we were only a couple of miles from Rush
Peterbuilt in Mobile (Friday afternoon) so we went over there and they
didn’t have the part but said they could bypass it without a problem and
we would be fine to get home but then we should replace it of course.
The pressure went right up to 120psi as soon as he was done. They were
really nice and reasonable too.Does anyone know the part number or where I can order one please… I
will post 2 pictures inthe next thread… I can’t add pictures with my
“compatibility” settings and if I change them my text goes away so I
will post this and then post the pictures separately.Thanks in advance….

That looks like the pressure regulator from an Air Force One brake system. I had to replace mine once….
What is it from?

So there is a seperate air supply for the air force one? I like the M & G, nothing but a single line from the coach brake supply.

Yep, the AF1 has an air tank, the regulator and another valve that meters the air to the toad. There is air to the tank all the time. My regulator started leaking where it was put together. They sent me a new one to fix the issue. The one I got was from another mfg. and did not give me any trouble while I owned the coach.

I have the M&G braking too not the Airforce One.
I have no idea what this is for !!

Where does the airline go that comes out of that tank Diane? If there is a quick coupler at the rear bumper, it’s possible a previous owner used the Air Force One. If that’s the case, I would remove it all, just another source of potential problems.

It sure looks like the AF1 setup. I agree with Tom…check it out, see where it goes and if it is not needed, take it out. The AF1 also has another line from the coach brake system going to it. That is the signal line that tells their valve to send air out the line to the toad. If this is indeed an AF1, that line will need to be taken out too….and the port plugged it is fed from.

If I can see for sure that it is an AirForce One setup can I just leave it alone until we get up to Jeffs… No-one around here is going to to mess with removing air lines on our bus… too risky.
My queston is can I leave it like it is with the check valve bypassed for a couple of months?
Would Prevost Houston or the guys at M&G in Athens Tx be able to do that?

AF1 is a braking system for your toad (tow vehicle)… it connects from the bus to the car and assists in braking.
Prevosts are very haevy and don’t stop on a dime like we sometimes need them to and having brakes on your tow vehicle helps a lot… we tow a heavy Suburban and would be foolish not to have it. We have a system by M&G which is actually built and installed in Athens, TX which is only about 80 miles from us and is a very popular system.
AF1 (Air Force One) is another company that does it too…. From what I understand both companies are excellent…
We are very happy with our M&G braking system.

I went on the AF1 website and Foretravel and Motorhomes of Texas are both listed as certified installers. There are quite a few Texas installers listed but noticed those two in Nacogdoches. If they put em in maybe they could do the removal. -
Daine if it is fed from a valve on coach it will be the R 12 valve it will need to be plugged

If a coach owner is adding a braking system for the toad that works off the air lines for the service brakes, wouldn’t it make sense to put a quarter turn ball valve at the point the service brake air system is first tapped so that the added air lines for the toad braking system can be quickly isolated and shut off when not in use?

I found a picture I had taken of my AF1 installation on the XLII. This sure looks like what you have in your picture. If it is the same, I agree with Tom…have Jeff take it out.
