drained the air this morning and changed out the level low valves. nothing difficult about it. was able to change the 24 vavle coil and i am waiting to get 12 volt coils hopefully this week (liberty parts guy is still out of the office).
i did have a question on the new vavles though. old valves had a red screw on the side of the base with text “turn to operate”. new valves dont have this? did i get the wromg parts? part number i ordered is 641928 from prevost.

They are fine.
What makes these solenoid valves somewhat different from a conventional solenoid valve is when they close they prevent air from the supply side from passing through which is how a conventional solenoid valve works, but these also exhaust the pressure on the load side so the Norgren 3 and 5 port valves can go to their normal position. I am sure your new valves will do that. They exhaust through the red cap.

thanks jon. i made sure i installed the new ones oriented in the same manner as the old ones based on the layout of the internals (seemed to be the same).

finally got the 12volt solenoids/coils from liberty. theor peices are very reasonable, compared torevost on the 24volt solenoids/coils.
installed and tested the system today. aired up with no issues, leveled perfectly and will watch ot for holding air. i will still replace the other norgren valves when up at jeffs later this month as well as have him drain air tanks again (checking at air dryer shows no water, but i would rather have him purge the sustem again like he did earlier in the summer).
next season will be a further going through of air system. air bags, brake air tanks and check all air brake controller valves (already replaced two).
hopefully that will keep us going for a while.
