And don’t forget to manually drain those awning arms every so often. They can also collect ambient moisture.

You will need to lower the arm so that it is pitched to drain, loosen the four screws at the top of the arm and gently pry the cap loose. Anywhere from a few drops to as much as several teaspoons of water may drain out. Jimmy at ZipDee will be happy to walk you through it if necessary.

Reverse the procedure and you’re good to go….

It’s also a good time to lubricate the awning arms while you’re at it. There’s a 1/2″ bolt about centered in the “bottom” section of he awning arm. Once you remove his bolt, add a little oil. ZipDee recommended 3-in-one oil. The awning should be in the nearly upright position at this point so that the oil runs down into the arm. Again, Jimmy can walk you through it.

These awnings work great….when they work. They absolutely require regular maintenance to do so. Neglect will cost you substantially.
