Help me here. Two guys say they hold their grey water, but when pressed they dump it on the ground to make room.
So if I know I am going to be pushing the limits of my holding tank, explain the difference between dumping your gray tank on the ground, and me using my gray water by-pass to prevent my tank from filling?

Jon, simply put, Dave and I do not like to let our grey water go on the ground. In many situations it’s not legal and almost all situations not polite. Therefore we hold our grey water. But when we get into a situation that we didn’t plan on and have a full grey tank with nowhere to dump it can be very beneficial to dump our grey tank. If you got into a situation where your tank was full and needed to dump where there wasn’t a sewer connection you would have a very smelly mess on your hands. I can guarantee if you open your single tank dump valve without a hose attached you’ll be cleaning up a lot more than just rose petals.
Again, both setups are neither better or inferior than the other. Just something to consider for those in the market for a coach with regards to how they plan on using it.

With twin tanks one can choose when to drop the gray water. This is important at many venues where dry camping occurs. Dropping gray through a bypass when taking a shower in the middle of the day would result in much more attention than I would want. With the separate tank you can get rid of the gray when you want
Further when traveling across the country gray always fills before the black. Being able to pull off at a deserted exit and get rid of the gray quickly is a major plus to me.

I have to agree with Dave and BBB, and for the reasons they mention. It would be deal killer for me.

I cannot get my brain wrapped around holding gray water in a tank because it is illegal to dump it on the ground, except when the tank is full then it is OK.
I have no clue when it is OK to use my gray water by-pass unless I am stopped at a venue that tells me it is OK. I cannot imagine anyone with a full tank driving around asking if it is OK to dump a tank.

Those of us with the standard two tank systems HAVE the option to dump our gray water and the Liberty guys don’t. That’s pretty much the bottom line.
I have dumped my gray in rural area’s dry camping where everyone was happy to have the water due to much needed rain.
Jon should be able to dump anywhere since his built in Binford 3000 sanitation plant only discharges spring water with a hint of Jasmine. After all, it is a Liberty.

Since Jon does not frequently dry camp, a single tank works for him.
We do dry camp and never open our gray tank dump valve. However, at the push of a button a slight drip developes from a gray tank leak that is very similar to the condensation drain runoff from our roof from our roof air conditioners. Having the ability to control when that leak occurs is important to us. That would be impossible with a single tank system.

I do dry camp. But first I plan ahead and anticipate my needs.
Most of the situations that are what I consider unusual, such as not having full hook ups require me to develop a plan to deal with the use of water because I will have a full tank sooner and I need a plan. The plan may be to use my macerator to discharge to a nearby sewer cleanout, or my plan may be to use a honey wagon, but If dumping gray water by pass is not allowed it means if I had two tanks dumping the gray one in the middle of the night would be equally not allowed.
When I had two tanks I found I had twice the need to dump in a sewer outlet because the tanks never filled at an eqal rate so now having had two single tanks on two coaches the only thing I really miss is having the gray water tank flush the hose after I dumped the black.

Im suprised no one has pointed out the obvious reason for having a single tank VS a dual tank setup…
Go price a head hunter tank sentry system and the single tank setup all of a sudden looks more attractive 🙂
On a side note, something tells me Jeff is going to have a constant flow of grey water washing across his parking lot this weekend with the flow getting stronger during the night time hours, with everyone trying to show off the benefits of the systems they have in a dry camping situation 🙂

The grass around ETLC will be a beautiful lush emerald green when all the Liberty coaches help mother nature.
Rose bushes are getting ready to sprout from all of the rose petals……..

Uh, Oh………I thought I was opening the gray water valve but by mistake opened the big tank drain valve.
Fortunately I have a Liberty, and all my mistake did was spread around a few more rose petals…….

I also saw those rose petals.. But they were flying out from under Mr. Marks Bus…. I still can’t find my petal dump rope……
