1995 Vantare Conversion info
Just picked up a 1995 H3-45 Vantare Conversion & was pleased to find a lot of info about everything but the conversion & the way the systems are set up. So I called Vantare & though they have a lot of conversions archived this one is not one of them. So I’m trying to reach out to anyone who has some info they would be willing to share so I might better understand what I’m dealing with. My unit has Cruisair, Aquahot, twin Xantrex 4024 inverters, Martin 15kw genset & 8 battery house bank. Thanx, John

John,
You probably have a 431/12 Aqua Hot heater. It has 4 very robust circulation pumps, 3 zone pumps and 1 engine preheat pump. These pumps rarely fail. Leaks, if any, can be repaired the the proper O-rings. In 8 years, I have not replaced one of those pumps.
The 16 gallon coolant tank contains auto antifreeze of your choice. Many use the antifreeze they use in the engine and/or generator. The coolant tank needs to be completely full all the time. The overflow hose needs to be soft and supple with clamps at the the radiator cap barb and overflow tank barb – no air leaks. Plus, the radiator cap needs to have soft supple gaskets, if old, replace with 13 lb cap.
The burner almost always needs servicing following sitting awaiting a sale. A smelly or smoking burner should be serviced soon.

I have had two coaches that lacked manuals and thanks to the internet and the ability to print critical manuals, and a laptop computer to bookmark others I have been able to have access on the road to information when needed.
You will have almost 100% of the information you need for your Prevost chassis on the Prevost Car web site. Go to the link below and you can see detail specific to your coach.

Yes he does. We laid hands on the Prevost maintenance and parts manuals. And several of the individual component manuals. The converter specific house manuals were AWOL.
About the only thing our conversions share is the Martin Ginny. I have some information on the 15kw system if that is not in your collection.

You have a “Florida Featherlite” built before the company was acquired and production moved to the current Virginia factory. there are a lot of techs who worked at Featherlite Florida still in the Sanford FL area. I suggest a trip down to Sanford to spend time with the local Featherlite Sales/Service location, or Donny Meyers shop, or even Millenium Coach who employs some ex-Featherlite techs. Ask any of them for a few hours to show you the coach systems, they probably have documentation they can provide you, and it would be worth spending your money for the knowledge.
On your way down you can stop by Prevost Jacksonville to start building a relationship the the team there.

I have a lot of Prevost info including electrical schematics so I’m covered there. Nothing associated with the converter however.

I do have the Martin genset bookwork. Got the Aquahot too. Xantrex as well. Don’t think I have anything on the Crusair though. Haven’t tried researching internet for that though. Wonder if the Tackvision in motion antenna is still useable. Got some kind of internet satelite on roof too. None of which gets it roadworthy right now. Airbags & valves on the way. Thank You for the info. I am considering the seminar at Tradewinds in March & so that could open the door to try & find some of those guys. Just gotta get the coach road worthy. Best I can figure it’s been sitting 3 or more yrs.
How about this DataStorm mobile 2 way internet satelite by MotoSat. Anyone have use for this?

I have a 95/96 XL Vantare conversion that I purchased in March 2008. It had cruise air, Martin generator, aquahot and 8 battery house bank. I had no Vantare bookwork at all. Featherlite was still in Sanford then and I received no help from them. It was a rough time for converters then and I am sure they were stressed to the max.
I worked my way through trying to understand one system at a time while traveling every week. It was stressful to say the least.
In 2012 Prevost Community came along and then Jeff Rowe. My stress was melted away by the combined brain trust here. I still do not understand all of the systems, but I understand a lot more than I did. Plus, I know that someone here will know.
Do not be afraid to ask questions, sort through the answers and plunge in.

Davy , I recently became the owner of a XLV which seems to be what you have also . My question to you is I notice you are pulling a 24′ stacker and i was wondering about your hitch . Did you buy the coach with a 20k hitch or have one installed , or are you using the 10k that the coach I believe came with . Thank you in advance for the feedback .

John, I heard rumor that all of the early Featherlite drawings and schematics were obtained by Amadas when they bought Featherlite. I heard that they were really helpful in providing information.

Thank You for mentioning Armadas. I called them early on & though they have files on many coaches mine was not one of them. I have been able to chase down a good bit of info with help from others here. We will be attending the Prevost work shop at Tradewinds in DeLand, Fl in March & will have access to some techs who once worked for Vantare. I have also spent a few phone calls with Kyle at Tradewinds which has been very helpful as well. Win win I say.

When I decided to upgrade to a bigger and heavier trailer, the overwhelming consensus here was to upgrade the engine cradle to be able to handle more weight. It was absolutely the only right thing to do and I had it done at Prevost Nashville in early 2012.
