PDI Work
Hi guys, I’m fairly new here and getting close to bying a bus. I have narrowed down 3 and they are located at Liberty, Marathon and Millennium in Florida. I see the fellow Joe Camper runs around the country do work and I here he’s much cheaper than the big shops. My question is do you think he could do PDI’s for me and then some possible repairs at these bus stores. I doesn’t seem to be a conflict becasue he always gets parts and info f rom thees shops, so I suppose he has a working relation with them. I was told it was a cheaper way for repairs and no tax and he does good work.

to be blunt, but if I were the businesses mentioned, I would so not
only no, but hell no. Those companies and commercial shops, pay
taxes, have payroll’s, insurance, overhead, business licenses, health
insurance, advertising, warranty, etc, etc.. I can’t imagine anyone
with a legitimate business allowing that to happen.But
who knows, ask and see what happens…PS

I wouldn’t use that guy for anything. I used to be a POG member and saw some of his posts. Let’s just say that I was not impressed with anything he posted. This is my opinion, others may have different ideas.
All three of the companies you mentioned are very good at making sure the customer is satisfied. I would think that if you are interested in one of the coaches they have for sale, making it contingent on everything working right when you get it would not be difficult.
Call them and see.

Having been in the car/truck repair business and then auto parts business. I do have some real concerns about guys who take advantage of using well qualified businesses as a guide to … “under cut” with sole purpose of stealing business.
This other web site allows a member to post for work orders probably at no ad cost. Maybe the site owner gets free repairs. Got to be something going on. Yet, you see a real store front business paying fees to offer there services.
When an after repair accident does happen you will be a target for compensation. Why would you ever put yourself in that legal target ?
If I was an advertiser there I would ask for every penny I paid refunded for allowing this.

The three companies you mentioned are not going to let you drive away with a bad coach. Every one does a complete inspection of the coaches they sell so you do not experience any problems. They train you in your new coach and encourage you to stay at their facility for a few days using the coach and making sure everything is to your satisfaction. And if it is not right, they fix it.
I always encourage buyers to do a complete inspection if they do a private sale purchase. But I can say with confidence if you are going to buy a coach from any one of the three mentioned you do not need anyone to help you because the coach will be right.
As to the individual you mentioned if you were to ask me if I would use his services my response would be absolutely not. I am amazed he is allowed to post as he does on another site stealing business from companies that pay to advertise, that have a large investment in facilities, training, insurance parts inventories, and which pay taxes.
I like to save money like the next guy, but I’m not that hard up.

Now that’s a deal. A PDI is so important to the buying process for a couple of reasons. It certainly helps in the determination of pricing and after that it’s nice to know in advance what you are going to spend to make your coach road worthy and enjoyable. You will also learn the operating systems at the same time.

Jeff posted on another thread about his new coach lifts. For PDI purposes you not only get access under the coach but he said you get a weight readout for each wheel.
That’s very important because knowing your weights not only is an important part of the PDI, you need to know them to determine tire pressures, how you have to load the coach, and why it might be slow to come up to ride height.
So Harry, if you really do want a PDI you can see why you need to take it to folks that have made the investment to set up a shop to do work the proper way. I’ll still stick with my contention if you are buying from Millennium, Marathon or Liberty you won’t need one, but if you are buying from a private individual you do need one.

I have used Joe to find and fix cold air leak which are very hard to find easy to fix when they’re found He came to my shop with his tools jacks and stands repaired it in one day if I had too take it to Prevoist I would have to go to Ft Worth one day then return to pick it up he also explained how the lo level works I will use Joe any time I need help Thanks Busman Ps Joe hade me buy all parts from Prevoist
