Satellite TV
What type of antenna do you use for Direct TV ours has been retired. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Roof mounted automatic would be the Winegard Trav’ler or the RF Mogul version (Eagle, IIRC). Anything other than a full size home style antenna will not allow you to receive ANY HD programming and “IF” DTV ends the SD broadcasts as they keep promising no dome style antenna will be able to even get a full line of broadcast channels. If you want to use a dome I would recommend using DISH in the RV. Still many limitations but at least full HD.

After enduring Direct SD tv and no local channels and threats that SD would be dropped altogether, I decided to go to Dish. The little Tailgater dome mounted to the base of the Direct antenna and I have two coax feeds into the coach. Local feeds are as easy as making a location change on their app. When we travel I have it activated; when in storage, the service expires at the end of the month, reactivate on the app with a payment. Easy. All service is HD.

I dropped Satellite TV all together. Get local channels over the antenna and stream everything else. There has been a few chats about internet in the coach and why pay for internet and Satellite when you can get your programming from streaming and have tv on your time.

Thanks for all the replies cable providers think you can’t live without them ,all mostly customer no service. Firestick looking better plus over the air and DVD .

I have the Travl’er and 2 Firesticks. I am also blessed with a truly unlimited mobile internet connection for $20/month (AT&T Mobley) which is no longer available.
Still, there are many times I cannot get a good enough signal to stream and even when I can I can’t always get the best quality picture and frequently experience buffering. I love my DVR as i rarely watch live TV (evening news being the exception) and having hours and hours of programming loaded up on my Genie means I can park under the trees (in the middle of no-damn-where) without ANY cellular available and still watch all the TV I like. I’m a very young 66 and being without TV is simply not an option for me and the bride. YMMV.
