Diesel Fuel decal removal from stainless

I know this is not a highly technical or mechanical question but if anyone knows the answer, it has to be one of you.
Has anyone removed those pesky Diesel Fuel decals from the stainless?
We’ve removed most of it with Goof Off and then some Polish All from Aero Cosmetics but we are still left with a ghost of the old decal. We have used a lot of elbow grease while trying to be as gentle as possible to prevent scratching.
Any ideas? -

Part of the problem may be the skin original finish under the decal was protected so the normal wear and tear of the finish around the decal is going to leave you with a visible difference between the two.
The stainless skin looks great, but at 10 years of age it has a patina we are unaware of. What is under the decal was untouched so it is an original, undamaged or unaffected example of what the finish was originally. It could either be the original satin finish, or an original mirror polish finish as it was prior to placing the decal.
If you attempt to buff it out to match the rest of the stainless finish it is not going to match, but if it botthers you it might be possible you have two options. The easiest is to see if a qualified metal polisher can buff the decal area and the surrounding area to blend. It will be a different appearance from the untouched area, but if the blending is done right, only you will notice. The most expensive option is to repolish the entire coach.

Had ours replaced by Prevost while in Quebec last fall. Agree with what Jon said (and also Prevost). Unfortunately you will have some ghosting on the stainless. Prevost recommended not trying to completely remove. We just placed new fuel decals in original location and everything looks good. Can’t see any of the ghosting.
