  • Off Roading / Jeeping

I know there are a number of people like to go off roading when they travel. Many tow Jeeps or other vehicles that are set up to do just that. I may be a little more hard core than most but it is something that I really enjoy. I have a dedicated trailer queen that I use for that purpose. I am interested in finding new places to wheel. I am a rocks guy and try to avoid mud. If you have been somewhere that you really like or even a specific trail let me know.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Moab UT – any of the 7+ trials

Stillwater Ranch Off Road – Llano TX

    Barnwell Mountain – Gilmer TX

    Inks Ranch – Llano TX

Here are a few that I have been wanting to try and would be interested to hear from anyone who has been there

SMORR (Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch) – Seymor MO

    Clayton OK

    Sand Hollow UT

Johnson Valley CA (I hesitate because of CA length laws for MH)

If you like serious rock climbing, then Farmington, NM is where they have the semi national competition in the fall.

    FFF,

I am going to Moab in early October and I am trying to squeeze in a day or two in Farmington on the way. It makes most of Moab look like a cakewalk.

We spend the summer at Tiger Run RV Resort in between Frisco and Breckenridge Colorado. There is a very loose Jeep group that goes out every Tuesday and Thursday. Trails are not too hard, but the scenery is great. There are other harder trails around like Holy Cross, Sidewinder, Chinaman, etc. There are usually hardcore Jeepers looking for someone to join them.

I would suggest FMCA’s Jeep chapter “4-Wheelers”. They have events all over with trails from easy to extremely difficult. There is one event this September in the South Dakota’s Black Hills in Spearfish. The more difficult trails sound like they might be to your liking.
