  • Magnum inverter experience anyone?

Posted by Marshall on July 8, 2021 at 3:16 pm

I’m planning an inverter replacement and looking for some information. My current Xantech’s work fine, just planning for the future.

Looking at Magnum 4000’s for my 2007 Marathon H3-45 conversion. Will probably do the swap when I replace batteries next year.

Have any Marathon owners done this? Fortunately, I live in Nashville, near Inverter Services (A sponsor on this site)

I’m wondering if there is any issues with Tech Link or other Marathon systems.

I think that’s the way to go Marshal, I think you’ll lose the ability to run cruiseairs, but Jordan will have that answer. If you have roof airs, you may be OK. I would run the generator instead of inverters for A/C’s.

We just had Inverter Services in Nashville area install two new 12V Magnum Inverters and their Watchdog Generator Autostart. Absolutely love having these Pure Sine Inverters over the Heart modified Sine inverters. Better for the new refrigerator, convection/microwave oven, Smart TV’s and our iPads.

They did a top notch installation and Olympia Luxury Motorcoach set everything up to their parameters. It has all been working perfectly and as designed. Money well spent.

My new Renegade Ikon is coming with Victron’s. I know little about them, but from what I have been reading, those that have them really like them. They are supposed to be true sine wave from the spec sheets.

The guys at Inverter Services spoke highly about them as well……

I will have 2 x Xantech 4000W inverters and remote control panels for sale that are working perfectly. I’m probably a little premature replacing these, but what the heck!

    Marshall,

Those Xantrex in your bus are the workhorse of that era. I would consider swapping if you didn’t have bypass switches on board but you do.

Getting the remote cable up the wall to connect the remote is the only challenge putting in Magnums.

Your era Marathon was built in some of their best years. I have Schneider inverters in my new one and they already have a new supplier. What does that tell you.

You will not be stranded if you loose both inverters, you can get home with the bypass switches.

If you go the replace route it does not affect techlink or Crestron.

On an edit here I just read Truks post. You been out of Marathon way to long. They got rid of Cruise airs around 02

    Marshall,

    Do you mean Xantrex?

Just to note if you switch to Magnum. They use a standard phone RJ-12 jack 4 wire for the panel. Don’t waste money and time running a new cable unless you really want to or it’s fairly easy. Just cut the Xantrex connector off, choose 4 wires and crimp a phone jack on. The manual for the panel shows how to make the cable.

I’ve done it several times on replacement inverters and never had an issue. I always gave my customers the option, but it would save them $$$.
