Motor Won’t Start 99 Prevost Royale
Hey Guy’s need help. I have a 99 Prevost Royale with 197k miles on it, and went to start it this am and it made a loud pop. Went to rear of the coach and there was a huge cloud of smoke in engine compartment seemed to be around the air filter area. Any suggestions as to what my problem is? Now it won’t turn over. It’s a Detroit 60

Check the starter

Check the chassis batteries. You might have had a battery explode.

Mike , I’m thinking battery also . Remove the 3 bolts that cover the battery s and take a peek . I think if you hear it inside the bus it must have been pretty loud . Be sure to wear glasses . Hope it is something simple .

Yes one battery Exploded Sep. 2016 Exide 31XHD( 5 years old)! Need 4 New! Glad it did it on start-up in shop and not on a trip!

I had that happen after racing all week at Sebring. I was so tired I didn’t even get upset. Just laughed it off and got a battery in the morning just to get me home. Replaced with all new Lifelines.

Mike: get the NAPA discount app on your phone through AITA. I think there’s a link on the PC Forum. Then buy the NAPA top of the line Legend batteries. Replace all four chassis batteries.
