What kind of care is required for the film too avoid the milky, checking that I have seen? I have picked up a load of bugs and am reluctant to try some of the stuff I always could use on my “Plastic Sheild” in the past.

I just realized I had the 3M film on the black plastic trim on my bumper in the front. I never knew it was there because I hadn’t been looking for it, so I washed it and waxed it just like I would with the other surfaces.

Unknown to me one of the corner pieces that is below the stainless bumper looked funny and it was the film separating from the part. It was separating because the plastic had cracked and apparently moisture was entering from behind through the crack. So I removed the film from that small section of the plastic.

That stuff is nearly bullet proof. Where adhesion wasn’t affected it looked like new except for some stubborn bug splatters. There was no sign of stone chips and because I never knew it was a film over the painted surface I never did anything different than I did on the stainless or painted surfaces. The adjacent stainless steel decorative trim in the same area as the painted plastic end pieces shows definite signs of aging due to thousands of stone or sand abrasions where the film looks unaffected. If it hadn’t had the bond fail due to the crack in the plastic it would still be on the coach, but the unbonded part looked terrible.

Per 3m spec it is to be replaced at 5 yrs….Usually between 10-14 years you see more issues though…

Jon, if you would just use the plastic bug shield I gave you there would be no problems.

Don’t worry about how much Tom will poke you, just put it on.

    Buddy,

You forget I have the optional BS shield. It was an added feature that relies on a special force field which prevents all but the occasional BS, but more importantly I am protected from gross amounts of BS and thus do not need BS of my own

The full term of course is not BS, but can mean Bug Shield or Bug Splatter depending on the context.

We long term members of this forum have come to realize most of the BS around here comes from the CC guys. (In that context you realize BS means Bug Shield, right?)

If you choose to respond to the above BS, remember this is a G rated site.

Larry, I used #303 UV Protectant, which you can buy from Amazon, Ebay or about anywhere for a couple of years. It’s designed for Vinyl surfaces. In the last 6 months or so, I have been using Wipe and shine by Mcguires. It appears to give the same results.

Tom, It looks like you found the perfect accessory for the Marathon Admin guy to deal with the Liberty Admin guy. At least it seems so from a CC guy.

Ok Tom, if you will send me a can of that stuff I will wax my bus with it before I come to Bella Terra.

So now I am in a double elite club 1.) A Country Coach owner and 2.) A Mac user.

What else are you guys going to do to me, never mind, don’t think about it.

And Jon, I want my B S back, Bug Shield that is.
