  • Door Seal Adhesive

Posted by Chas on February 18, 2014 at 1:44 pm

The door seal on the entry way door has peeled up on th eleading edge, when the curve is. I am trying to find an adhesive that I can apply to keep the door seal in place and working.

Tried 3M double sided body trim tape with no luck. Anyone have anything they have used that worked?

    THanks

There might be better alternatives, but I have had very good success with contact adhesive.

Apply to both surfaces. allow to dry and press the two surfaces together. Easy and usually permanent.

3M also makes an adhesive that you should be able to get at a NAPA store. It is made to hold auto rubber door seals that I have used in the past. Contact adhesive should also do the trick depends on what you have available..

I have had good luck with 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Same stuff used by the factory to install rubber weatherstripping.

Thanks guys… was thinking the liquid adhesive was going to be the way to go over the double sided sticky tape… The tape sticks well to the door, but the seal just doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.

This will also let me try out the local NAPA and my discount card 🙂
