A Fuel Anomoly
I stopped for fuel at Pilot in Jamestown, New Mexico Tuesday and experienced what I hope was an anomoly. The fuel lanes farthest from the building go down hill a little and the lane I was parked in was leaning from the driver to passenger side quite a bit. I thought while fueling that I would probably get more fuel in than usual because it was leaning away from the fuel fill on the driver’s side.
It kicked off, I replaced the nozzle and walked around to the passenger side. That is when I noticed diesel dripping on the ground..
I opened the passenger side fuel door above the drip and found the cap was dripping.
I have only filled from the passenger side maybe twice so I never open that door. The drip was coming from the cap, filling the little area there and draining on the ground below. The cap was tight but I was able to tighten it a touch and it quit leaking..
I suppose the bus was leaning so much that the filler neck on the low side was completely full. No leak at all later.
