Printer for the motorhome
I’d like to have a printer (maybe with scanning capabilities) in the motorhome and was wondering what’s worked for others, and what hasn’t worked.
I’m looking for something small that I can tuck in the coach somewhere. Walking by the printers at Best Buy, Costco, and Walmart it looks like most of them are WiFi enabled … so I don’t have to worry about a USB or printer cable from the laptop to the printer.
I saw prices as low at $99 and then today $49 at WM. I realize technology has changed, but have the prices are much lower than I expected. What you get for $99 to $150 … do they really work? Do they really last? Is the ink/toner reasonably priced?
Is the WiFi really easy to hook up?
Priorities are B/W printing, scanning, and then probably color printing.
Hoping to leverage someone else’s positive experience. TIA

I am using a $99 canon that works great, not one of the smallest though.

Brother HL-L2360DW. It’s a laser printer so it uses a toner cartridge not ink jet cartridges. Our ink Jets would gum up if left unused for any period of time. The Laser Printer doesn’t care.
It’s also wireless, so no ethernet cable needed to our router. It has been flawless. It’s also very small for a Laser Printer.

I use a Brother as well. Mine is a J470DW which is a multi-function unit but uses ink cartridges. I’ve had no clogging or drying issues with the ink yet and I’ve had the unit for three years. I store for up to 6 months at a time. Also, the Brother print app works great from my IPhone 8. Not the smallest printer, but works great

I used this printer in my Marathon and what makes it nifty is its size as it’s 16.8in x 13.25in x 42in. This allowed it to fit in the slim drawer in the salon.
However, these days I prefer Epson’s EcoTank models as they use ink tanks that rarely need refilling. The one in my home office went two years of some fairly heavy printing tasks before needing a refill. There’s a variety of shapes, sizes and features.

I’ve been using the Epson XP-440 wi-if and it works well for scans as well as print. Jon insists I keep up with all PC admin functions even while on the road while he doesn’t even turn on his flip phone.

I’ve gone through a couple (maybe a few) HP’s and the ink is expensive. Now trying Brother.

I cannot get rid of my flip phone, and I sure don’t plan on turning it on unless I want to make a call.
I’ve seen how all you slaves to your smart phones have given up large parts of you life so you don’t miss a single call, get weather updates, texts, watch TV, etc. You all just want me to be as miserable as all of you are never enjoying the freedom of not being “connected”.
Tom has to have the printer because as long as he is not giving me any of the dues money, at least he can work a little in exchange for keeping his share and mine.

We use a small HP Envy 5530 that does all the things you want. It is light and easily moved around the bus too. Ink cartridges can be pricey, but we watch for sales and use some refills as well. We have used this one weekly for about 3 years. I usually hook my laptop to it by the cord but all other devices print wirelessly with it.

We use an HP Officejet 250 Mobile All-in-One printer. We are full timers and use it regularly, so ink drying isn’t an issue for us. WiFi, Scans to thumb drive, Copies, Color prints, and has a relatively small footprint with low profile.

We’ve been using a brother J870DW for a few years. It fits in our cabinet by our chair, uses wifi and connects well to my galaxy s8 phone.
