  Carbon Monoxide

  A word of caution! Last year while heading into Florida, we stopped at Rest stop to sleep. Was not running generator so no worry about fumes we thought. About 2 am my carbon monoxide alarm woke me up. Without any motors running I thought it must be broke , so I tried to turn it off without success. Just happened to look out bedroom window and a motorhome was right beside me with generator running with their exhaust under my window. We moved to another spot, opened windows an alarm went off. We were lucky for sure!!!

  Good point Dan, I would imagine that was a sleepless night after that happened, those detectors are loud. It could have been a tragedy without a working detector.

  Those detectors also “age out” I think the range of lifetime is 5 years. Some of them start beeping when they reach the end of usefulness.
