  • Big Numbers at PC ….

Posted by Don on June 12, 2015 at 9:02 am

A new pinnacle in the bus community, congratulations guys, this is an admirable accomplishment. I just cashed in two bus boards this week, I am down to PC and so far, have not been asked to leave. So I will therefore offer up this to try my best to increase my nuisance value.

    No more bus groups.

I believe I am now healed of my wanna-be afflictions.

This week, I voluntarily removed myself from two different bus groups on FakeBook and have decided to go on down the line. To be happily content, burning huge amounts of hydrocarbons in the fast-lane, with my turn signal blinking a left turn for who knows how long (like Tom)?

Or in other words: YOU BUY YO’ TICKET. YOU TAKE YO’ CHANCES. You win a few and you lose a few, some of them mothers’ just burn to the ground.

La Vita Loca as some would say.

Here I sit, drinking my cup of Joe, looking at the bus sitting on the drive, loaded up and ready to go. I should be happy, I am after all, “on the right side of the dirt, I have no regrets for the hand that life has dealt me” but still, I am unsettled, for some unknown reason, I am not a happy camper.

Curiously I cannot figure out what it is that is buggin’ me this morning. It is as the old tymers’ are fond of saying, “A good day to be above ground.” I should be elated but I find myself just the opposite.

Why is it we can never attain that level of comfort or happiness that we all desire in life? Why is it as Rodney King once said, “Why can’t we all get along?” What is it, that elusive thing, that always remains just a tad bit out of reach for the average guy. That little thing that sows the seed of discontent in a man’s life. The early morning sunshine breaks thru the kitchen window but it doesn’t illuminate the source of my frustration.

Today I just have one thing going for me. I have balance, I know what it is that I know. I have been loved, I have been lost, and I have been hurt, but still I have a good idea of what all of this is worth.

Which is on some days simply put would be not much.

My grandmother used to say “Look for the rainbow Donnie” and bless her heart, she is right. Now that I am no longer frittering my time away on some useless bus boards, I can do as the wife suggests.

Get back to work on the house.

    this old house

It is not easy, but you can always find a rainbow here and there, and this year, there have been plenty of cloudy days.

    I am doing alright.

In answer to the “doldrums” that is the story of my life, here in my last vast great stronghold of good rural living, on my little goat farm and road that is being destroyed by salt water trucks from the fracking well behind my house drilled so that others could enjoy cheap fuel while I sat home and sorted out my slides for the funeral home.

Other than that …. I suppose my life is good, spam cassarole for supper and a lawnmower that starts on the first crank .. who could ask for more?

By the way MEGAN & GARY CARMICHAEL FLOYD. it is all fueled up, I packed MY part of it today, when she gets HER stuff in HER side, we will leave Monday.

    Road Trip!

I like the double decker bus, Boxcar! Does it have slides? Tom’s next bus has to have slides.

We started a high speed run across half the country this evening. Going from Mandeville, LA, to Yellowstone NP after picking up two 12 year old Grandsons. Gotta be in Gillette Sunday night. Left Mandeville after work, stopped in BR to replace a headlight bulb that decided to burn out. Made it to a Cracker Barrel in Longview, TX. Turned in the wrong driveway and ended up dropping the toad and backing out, such fun. Should make southern Colorado by tomorrow night if I don’t make many more wrong turns. Running well for an SOB coach…

Got new hearing aids this week. Did you know that paper makes noise when you move it? I also found out that our coach has a nice chime like alarm when you raise the tag axle. Never heard it before. Waiting in a slow checkout line with a few supplies before we left surrounded by several families with small screaming kids I just turned off the hearing aids and life was good. My wife is jealous, but at least she doesn’t have to repeat herself anymore…
