6 o’clock news tonight in the land of OZ
Kansas driver was letting off a little steam driving his Dodge charger on I-70 today near Sedalia,KS. This is about 80 miles from KC headed toward Denver.
A Kansas Trooper took a picture of radar screen showing 143 mph in posted 70 mph zone. It’s a court appearance offense in Kansas. But he made the 6 o’clock news.
I have never been over 130 mph so he beat me.

I had Judy’s little Z4 M series BMW up to 155 once, it was a fun car.

I had my Boxster S up to about 150 once in Daytona, Florida before needing to hit the brakes for a turn. No chance of a speeding ticket as the venue was the Daytona Speedway. LOL

I once had my Corvette to 90.
And to show there is no end to my bravado, I drove one of the front wheels of the H2 Hummer over a curb in the Walmart parking lot.

Unfortunately, The Prevost Community is not exempt from this type of activity. Two PC members last seen headed to Virginia and points south on the Garden State Parkway in a Black Ferrari exceeding the speed limit. NJ State Police estimate speeds in excess of 120 mph.

Actually had a Florida Hwy patrol trooper tell me it’s their practice to NOT chase someone going over 100 mph. He said it jeopardize the public and the trooper.
Moral of the story, go big or stay home.Chuck

Other than taking a couple of laps in a NASCAR ride along at Daytona at 160 MPH the fastest I have even been in a car was 120. That was in a 1960’s Plymouth Station Wagon with a 383 4-barrel cruising the German Autobahn. We were passed on a regular basis some of those guy making it look like we were standing still! What an amazing road!

Biggest problem Mango and I had was do we borrow the red one or the black one.
Life is good in DeSilva land… I think 120 was 2nd gear.

When I was young, foolish, and didn’t know any better I too might have exceeded the speed limit once in a while on the open roads.
But after I started racing cars I realized how foolish I’d been in my younger years (prior to 52 years of age). When something goes wrong or something bad happens in excess of 90 or 100mph (certainly over 120mph) its very likely someone is going to get hurt.
No helmet, no face shield, no head & neck restraint, no five or six point roll cage, no door bars, no five or six point belts. No personal safety gear, only three point belts, and a few airbags are not going going to provide adequate passenger protection in a high speed incident that is likely to have second and third impacts.
Be safe out there. We’d dearly miss any of you.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway (oval): 177mph (vintage Cup car, restricted by no passing in corner rules)
Daytona International Speedway (oval): 173mph lap average/184mph top end (ARCA test in Willie Mullins second car that finished 9th in 2018 ARCA 200 with Andrew Belmont at the wheel)
Bonneville Salt Flats: TBD at some point (likely the vintage Cup car)

There seems to be a connection with bus owners and the need for speed and then the need to lumber. (along in the bus). Strange phenomenon.

The one that jumps out is the 92 mph snowmobile run.

Any lumber many of us do. If Jon Wehrenberg ever gets next to me on the Interstate … no one will get past us.
I’m on three or four Prevost oriented Facebook pages. Everyone once in a while someone posts able driving their bus 70 to 75mph on the highway. When I ask if they knew what speed the tires were rated for, they are awfully surprised.

The hell with the tire speed rating. Ask them to do some research and see what the stopping distance is at 60 then 70.
Every time someone goes flying past me at a speed significantly higher than mine, especially in a conventional RV (and I am including 5th wheel trailers here also) I immediately start thinking of how exciting it is going to get if something happens.
