More air issues
So, after we got our air bags replaced in CO Springs the other one blew on our way to Denver. We got a new air bag and Volvo of Denver replaced that air bag. We also had all the front Lateral rod and Radius rod bushing (10) replaced. All has been good until we returned to this terribly out of level drive here in Richmond, TX. Made the nasty left turn and blew the right front air bag again. Crap.
Based upon comments from this site, we had Prevost dig into the air bag history of our coach. I knew they had changed the front air bag(s) in the past and they found that the air bag they replaced in 2003 (a CC change) was not the air bag Prevost originally installed. So, we have 2 new air bags to be installed. Waiting for Jay here in the Houston area to fit us in. These are 1″ larger in diameter which scares me a bit (1R10-108 vs 1r11-088 bags). Looking under the coach I see that the bottom bolt that holds the air bad in place is missing. Don’t know if it was never installed or not installed properly. I also don’t know if this has anything to do with why we had issues here.
To add to this Pneumatic conundrum our level low drive coil crapped out on our way here. I move a coil around to get us into a safe drive situation and have ordered the entire manifold/coil setup as that whole setup is 31 years old.

Have you had a problem with rear bags? Is front end moving at all? Sounds like something is moving and pinching/scuffing air bags.

When that coil fails, you can place a strong magnet on it to activate the valve. Works till you can replace it.
It is a good idea to carry a spare coil as they will fail at the most inopportune time.

The location on the manifold determines which solenoid valve. Four valve manifolds usually use the second down for the road or driving position, on a five valve manifold it is the center one.

Right, on my 4 manifold unit it’s the 2nd one down. When ordering new coils I took some pics of what was there. They are all 24V but 2 listed as 6W, one listed as 3.4W and one not marked. They should all have been 6W but I don’t know what kind of difference it makes (or why Prevost would put the wrong ones in). I do know that when I put the 6W unit in today the front end nearly jumped into the air when I pushed the up button! It’s always been a struggle to get the front end up manually. More news later!
I also ordered an entire manifold setup and hope to have that installed along with the new coils. I suspect after 31 years that this might be a worthwhile change.
