To a point I agree with you Doug, but only as it relates to proprietary features and components such as programming for multiplex or parts not readily available at the truck parts store. Cars, buses, planes, etc all have parts the manufacturers can get serious money for, but designing something so it is not easily accessed for repairs really pisses off a company’s core customers.
You can bet the farm if the commercial seated bus purchasers (the bulk of Prevost’s business) experience a significant issue making repairs on a Prevost compared to a Van Hool or a Setra or an MCI their replacement fleet would not be a Prevost. For commercial operators it is all about keeping coaches in revenue service and if a simple repair takes long and keeps a bus in the shop that translates into big loss of money.
