  • Air supply

where is the best source to tap into an air supply to provide air to my airbags on my Gen Set. I have to fill it myself and over time they lose pressure. Any ideas of how I can get air to Gen Bay? Thanks

How do they get air now? And why is that source not acceptable?

i want to add a regulator and check valve to feed a constant 30 lbs of pressure to the bags. No air in the Gen bay that I can see. I can get from the compartment under driver, but does not look like there a an easy way to route to the Gen bay. Thought someone might have done this and could share.

    Tony,

Rather then write the next book of the month could you post some pic’s showing at least one side of the generator showing your air bags.

I’ve been on PC a long time , own a Marathon but was unaware they filled generator bags with a portable air tank.

My 97 Royale air bags were manual fill only, so this is not unusual. I actually liked it, as long as the air bags were leak free, it held air forever and didn’t have any other source of leaks such as lines, regulator, etc.

Just replace the leaking bags and rock on Tony.

I have the same manual fill gen airbags. Issue settled with a portable electric pump from Walmart. Cost $64.

No easy way to get air to the Gen Bay, so I went ahead and tied all 4 together with one fill point and a gauge. Easier than filling them individually. I will set at 25 PSI. Should I worry about increased pressure with heat? Don’t think that was a problem in the past but truthfully I never checked.

Tying them all together is a good idea. I am not familiar with how Marathon arranged the bays, but if you can easily access the Marathon accessory air system you can “T” off the line to or from the tank into a pressure regulator with a gauge and from there to the generator air bag fill point. An alternative is to find the supply line to the 5 port manifold in the steer compartment, “T” from it or the point with a tag marked “converter” and run that to the generator.

I’am traveling not in bus at this time.

Jake 62 can supply you with part number for ” heat relieving adjustable regulator” we installed on his bus.

SMC part # I’ve seen them on e-bay

    Tony,

I can furnish that SMC part # tomorrow if you still need it…

I also put a nice large print 30 psi gauge, no reading glasses required, on as well.

Getting the air in the compartment under the driver is not the issue. Getting a line from there to the gen bay is. Could run in the wheel well but I am afraid that is could be ruptured by debri. I have looked everywhere I could but see no way to run it where it would be protected. The single fill point will probably be fine. Found a deal on E bay for a couple of new bags, incase one of mine has a leak. Will just watch for now. thanks

Yes I’d appreciate the part #. Just in case I find a way to run a constant air line. Thanks

Where did Marathon put their accessory air tank and compressor. Maybe you could run off of that easier.

As far as getting from the steer compartment to the bays if you look under the coach you have a lot of very important air lines running to the center of the coach between the wheels and once there it is a matter of drilling through a bay wall if your generator is in the first bay.

Look at the foot treadle air lines and you will see they go to the area I suggested above. Run your new line where they run and the line will be protected.
