  • Tag unload for slide operation

Posted by Kit on June 6, 2019 at 9:14 am

Normal front slide operation unloads the tag before movement of the slide in or out. Mine suddenly doesn’t unload. The slide does still go in and out after the normal 20 sec delay but the rear doesn’t move down like it used to. I now manually lift the tag before operating the fwd slide. Does anyone have any info on this? Where is this valve the slide sw. operates? Is it the same valve as the manual tag lift? How to trouble shoot this system?

Why does the tags lift when slide goes out? Rear drops less stability??

I have not looked to see how the slide controller on a Prevost slide causes tag axle air to be dumped but I suspect it is closing the path to the tag axle air bag at the 3 port Norgren between the drive and tag axles and doing that it opens the exhaust of air from the tag air bags.

I was told the reason for that step in the slide operational sequence is to “relax” the Prevost chassis frame to minimize or eliminate slide room binding.
