  • Auto Leveling

This is mainly for “Dick from Wisc”, but others(Rocky) may learn something?

Your Prevost “level low” (air leveling) system may or maynot have a “Auto” mode. I’m not going to talk about the “Road” or “Manual” modes here. The subject is the “Auto” mode which is normally used to automatically 3 point level the bus for us on unlevel campsites. When switched into the “auto” mode, a pengulum with its 6 micro switches automatically levels the bus. This pendulum in my bus is mounted near the centerline of the front curbside bay. Under NO circumstances should it dump all 3(left, right, front) points.

Pic 1 is pendulum w/its cover on; pic 2 is w/cover off, pic 3 is of the Level Low control switches next to the driver seat in my bus. Your results may vary.

    Don,

Just so everyone is aware even Liberty coaches that have had that same system of leveling for years may not have the same switch layout or even switch position. From your photo of the switches the three that control the up or down appear to be in the “up” position with the center being “off” and the lower being “down”. Or maybe not.

The same holds true for the main switch with each of the positions possibly varying depending on the vintage of coach. The operating principle is correct via the use of a pendulum.

One of the greatest risks of our site and others like it is we all (me included) sometimes assume what we have in our coach is like what someone else has and it is very difficult to offer valid advice unless we know the specific coach being discussed. The burden to verify lies with the person asking the question, but we who offer information also have to be careful because a lot of those answering questions have not yet developed an understanding of their coach and we can drive them nuts.

    Don,

I had read about the pendulum before. But I recall it saying that it was in the rear ceiling. And had no access due there being no serviceable parts. And that could have been back in the day when they first come out with the level low ? I will look at mine , but most likely it is just like Yours. Since Our coach’s are so close in build numbers.

My Switches are the same. And Jon , the middle position is up and the lower position is down. You have to be careful about how they label those switch’s dont ya know ? LMAOAROTF ! ( Mine still says BAFFLES ) ………..

    Safe travels,

    Rocky

Regarding switch positions that is why I said “maybe not” because on my last 2 coaches the center position was “off”. On my first bus which had the same Liberty modified level low I cannot remember the switch positions but I do remember they were no intuitive, and the system was fully functional with the ignition switch off or on.
