ISRI Seat
Posted by Larry on April 19, 2015 at 9:14 pmOne job I dislike more than keeping stainless spot free is working on thr air seat. Do they all leak regardless of what work has been done?

Just about put in electric solenoid to shut off with the key is the best way I have put in two on the buses I have owned worked great no air leaking with the bus shut down

Deleted UserApril 19, 2015 at 10:34 pmNever had an air ride seat before and when we bought Olivia, the ISRI driver seat did not feel any different than other driver seats.
It took me about 8 months to figure out, that the seat was not aired up ….
Once I figured out how to do that, all is well. The seat works great and no leakage that I am aware of (then again, this may take yet another 8 months to find … )

To make more than 300 miles a day I Really really need a lumbar support and the ISRI fits my body just right. I just have not been able to have a leak free seat and such a PITA to work on while in the bus.

I have not had an air seat that did not leak and the valves for the back support are the crappiest ones I have ever seen and I think they have the life span of the average gnat.
I don’t know the answer short of by passing the valves and installing more reliable but likely ugly valves. You know the back support valves are bad when you adjust their bladder only to find ten minutes later you have to add more air.
I am about to add a solenoid valve in loine so when the key is off all air to the seat is blocked.

WOW…I’ve got 350,000 miles on an Isri seat. I’ve replaced the main air switch once and replaced one plastic air line because it rubbed through on the seat frame. I guess, for once, I’m out of step.

This is a great thread for us. Our seat appears to leak like a sieve. While at Prevost Jacksonville I mentioned it to the tech working on the coach. He thought it was the switch/valve mechanism and suggested it needed to be replaced. It was getting late in the day and metioned I should be able to replace it. So we bought one and I intend to tackle replacing it. Given the location, I don’t expect this to be a fun, exciting, and rewarding experience.
Reading this thread … the first thing I’m going to do is check for a broken air line and not start with the valve/switch mechanism.
I wish I would have seen the idea of putting valve tied to the igniation switch before I bought the new valve.

please add part number and the wiring diagram for the solenoid? Are there
wires that are active only when the ignition switch is on at the seat postion?Thanks

There are plenty of electrical connections in the steering bay for an ignition source. That would be the place to tie into the seat air solenoid. I picked one for my GPS and Presssure Pro that activates when I flip the master Prevost cutoff at the dash.

I am on the road right now do not have it , but there is one ground wire and one hot wire and air line coming in and one going out to seat if you look it up on here there is a topic when I talked about it and a part number sorry

I do not know about other models, but I suspect the same applies. Prevost provides 4 posts in the driver’s electric compartment on an XLII for 12 and 24 volt key on, and 12 and 24 volt hot all the time power.
That way you can pick the voltage you want for a solenoid valve and use it as you see fit.
Do a Google search or go on Amazon for pneumatic solenoid valves. There are literally hundreds of choices and they are cheap, or very expensive, your choice. The valves can come with 12VDC, 24VDC, or 120VAC coils, have pipe sizes from 1/8 NPT on up, and be for a range of applications from water to steam to air to gas.
