Norgren valves
I’m going to show my inexperience here. Wed afternoon I have arranged to use a pit to look for air leaks. Jon has been over the top helpful in assisting me identifying possible problems but I just realized I don’t know where the Norgren valves are that control the air for my drive and tag axel. My coach is a 1986. Also would like to know where the brake air tanks are. Thanks

Here are some parts that seem to do the job. The reason I am not being absolutely sure is I have more part numbers for the same valves but I think these are the ones we use. Note the prices.
3 port valve, the most commonly used one on our coaches.
I’m having trouble finding the exact solenoid operated 3 port such as Liberty uses on their suspension control system, but it is like the valve above, except instead of a pneumatic operator and spring return it has a solenoid operated operator. Owners of Liberty coaches just have to verify the solenoid voltage.
This appears to be the 5 port that we have 2 or 3 of on our coaches. Again, note the price. Even better than the one I posted previously.

To ad confidence to Jon’s research(which is superfluous): I can say that the 5 way 3 position Norgren is a K81EA00KACKAC – what Jon said. I replaced that valve in the steering compartment about six years ago, and that was the Norgren part number on the valve. I put a rebuild kit in it (piston, o-rings, grease) so while it sits on the shelf, it won’t fail.
Can’t say anything to the 3 way, 2 position norgren – yet.

I’m trying to find the Norgren coils and solenoid valves that are in the steer compartment. The last time I heard Prevost would rather sell the entire manifold and that is expensive, plus there is a lot of work to switch them out.
Norgren’s site is big. If anyone has any tips or shortcuts please post it.

I called back and got a different parts guy. Prevost does still sell the manifold valves and solenoids. I bought 2 valves and 1 coil as spare to carry.
I have not identified the norgren part numbers for these.

Jeff, I did a search on the Norgren site for that number as well as the number I took from a solenoid operated valve on my coach (K41EA00KV1KS6W2) and they both failed to turn up in a search of the Norgren web site.

I get the same thing if I use my account and put in that number however at the top of the page if I do a search of that number it comes up and has price of 153.55

I wonder if there is a proprietary number assigned for Liberty like there is on current valves from Prevost?
Does your listing specify 12 or 24 volts? That is why I am trying to get the Norgen solenoid coil numbers so I can ultimately place a PDF in the articles section with all Norgren numbers and ordering information.

Ok it was changing the last number and I didnt catch that. Talked with them and they can sell it with a 120v coil and then sell the 24vdc coil seperatly….not sure why that would be.

when replacing the 5 port level low solenoids, i ran through norgren’s site. i figured at that time prevost ran proprietary parts, so started to cross reference specs… my eyes starting bleeding after a good hour 🙂
Broke down and ordered from prevost. then went to liberty for the 24v one prevost didnt have (or is it the other way aroid?). found that liberty was half the price of prevost. -

If I get a chance and you have time I will drop in to see if between us we can create a listing of the Norgren items used in our coaches. We have a lot of members like Charles and others that are willing to replace items as needed and this will not only simplify ordering, but it will save some serious money that can be applied to dues.

I think I have a good number for the two valves in the steer compartment for Liberty owners.
That is with a 24 volt coil.
The numbers or more precisely the wide variety of numbers is mind blowing, but I beleve even if this is not the specific configuration, reversing the spring return and the solenoid actuation might be all that is necessary.
This information comes from this catalog which is easier to read.

Jon, tried your links further up the thread and it shows an error on norgren site…maybe it’s because I am trying to view on my pbone.
Anyways called Prevost today to order some small things, got quotes on norgrens, 3 ways for $78 of which my bus has 7 and $162 for the two 5 ways did not seem totally unreasonable for something I will only do once…i thought the prices would be much higher!!
I will investigate Norgren express a bit more before I order.
FYI, Prevost is having a sale on airbags and shocks. …so spung (hardy har har) for all new airbags and new rear shocks today!
