  • Air flush toilet doesn’t hold water

Posted by George on February 19, 2022 at 12:05 am

My air assist flush toilet is not holding water in the bowl. This just started, I tried to clean th white area on the toilet and tried to wipe the flapper with dawn. Still leaking. Looking for suggestions to repair.

I am not familiar with that type toilet, but if there’s a rubber gasket, try a bit of Vaseline on the mating surfaces and see if that helps. They can get dried out and that will work until you can get a replacement.

Is it a Microphor? If so, the flapper gasket is replaceable, some claim to do it without removing the toilet, but I had to remove mine on 2 coaches to replace the gasket. There is also a tension adjustment for the flapper. Parts are outrageous.

If it is a Microphor you need to clean both the gasket on the flapper and the one on the inside of the mating flange. Easiest way to clean both is to pull off the tank cover and locate the power wire. Push the flush lever and when the flapper is open pull off the power wire to keep it in the open position where you can get to both surfaces for cleaning. Water will only flow back into the bowl when the flapper is down and then it flows in for the length of time set on the timer you can see when the tank lid is removed. Easy to do but not pleasant.
