  • W/D Shutoff Valves

Posted by John & Billie Jo on February 23, 2021 at 1:10 pm

I have removed my W/D combo as it isn’t spinning (dry or wash mode) I thought would be a broken belt but, no; but that’s another story I am looking for a newer replacement since mine is from 1993.

After removing the unit I realized there are no visible shutoff valves on the hot or cold water supply, so the next day I had a mess of water in the compartment after my pump ran the next time.

All of that to say I cannot find the shutoff valves anywhere! I have removed every interior panel on that side that I can, every valve in my water bay is accounted for and I cannot find the valves anywhere! As a temp fix I have connected the cold and hot together with a ball valve but the plastic 90 degree ends on the rubber hoses are old, brittle, and dripping a little water anyway. They do appear in the wall to go straight down to the water bay below but….

So if anyone with an old gal Liberty like my ’93 can testify to the location of those valves I would really appreciate it! And a recommendation for a replacement combo W/D.

I really hate to hear about your issue. I am going to remove my Splendide 2000 since we never have used it in the three years we have owned our coach. You are welcome to have it for free if you will come help me get it out of my coach. Previous owner said they used it a lot since they were winter travelers and would be out for three or months as a stretch.

Hope someone can help John, I’m sure Liberty installed cut-offs. May want to talk to Jeff at ETLC.

I sure hope you can find shut off valves but I can tell you that my ’88 did not have any. However, I don’t believe there was a Splendide in the original coach so the guy who did the conversion may not have installed any. I also only had cold water input so I added a hot line and installed shut-offs.

The removal wasn’t that bad really a little tight out the door though. When the weather clears up we can work that out I would be happy to help!

I am actually headed to Jeff’s with the coach next week but sure thought I could locate them, I have been climbing around like a ninja looking!

For now I have just drained water tank since we are home until May.

Well my lack of patience finally paid off last night! I went back and removed some of the same closet panels I had been in before, bigger mirrors and flashlight and some contortionist home training… VIOLA there they are!

If it helps anyone else with an old XL Liberty like mine, They are forward of the last closet (where my combo was) Very low beside the road air channel, and well hidden by the vent pipe from the W/D and water tank. OR if you are below the coach, 26 inches forward of the drive axle airbag (above the floor line of course, but you can see the airbag from the inside with the dryer vent hose removed)
