  • Aquahot not heating F/W side very well

Posted by Chuck & Katrina on October 20, 2021 at 8:26 pm

Aquahot had cracked tank and was rebuilt 3 yrs ago when I purchased the coach. It has worked excellent until recently. I have always used softened water since I have owned it, so I don’t think hard water build up is the issue.

I have cleaned the burn chamber, and replaced the nozzle. Exhaust is hot and clear.

Room heaters are reading about 155 – 160 deg, BUT the fresh water at all faucets & shower head is starting @ 115 deg and going down to 105 deg with in a minute. I have even turned up the mixer valve in the Aquahot unit to max 145 deg. That didn’t make any difference. Someone suggested shower mixer valve in wet bay by dump valves might be open, checked it and it’s closed.

Running out of ideas, anybody have any thoughts/advice.

Chuck, Get heater up to temp, turn on one hot water faucet.

Down at the heater, place on hand on the line from heater to the bus and use the other hand to touch the line from the tank to the tempering valve. If the line to the bus cools off and the line from the tank to the valve remains very hot, replace the valve.

If the line from the tank to the valve cools off, there is a heater problem. In that case call me between 8 and 8 central time at 7 one 3 8 one 8 3234. I will unavailable today from 9:30 to about 11 am.

    All the best.

    Rudy:

Did your test with a infrared thermal heat gun.

Line from heater to bus starts @ 128 Deg and temp at tempering valve to bus is 109 deg. After about a minute of water running the temp @ valve to bus is now down to 112 Deg and temp out of tempering valve is about 105 deg.

Cold Water from tank going into AquaHot tank is around 86 deg. Also remember I turned the tempering valve all the way up to max 145 deg stetting.

    Apparently I have multiple issues.

Between Rudy & Art I was able to Isolate my problem. Turns out it was the mixer valve in the Aqua Hot unit, under the Wabasco. Looks like I will also need a new temperature sensor in the tank too. Unit is cutting off at correct temp but taking to long to come back on (temp differential is to big).
