Dupree holding tank air dump valve change
I have a leaking air driven dump valve and need to replace. As soon as tank gets 50% full it starts dripping on the ground.
Ordered one online and having shipped in to campground.
Are there any big tips anyone can give me before I embark on this venture other than the obvious? I have reviewed a few online tutorials but thought I would go to the experts.

Update.
Just had to order the valve and seal only. Two screws and it was out. Steve at Dupree was great to deal with and helped out over the phone. Recoomend them for help in this area.

Has anyone changed out their air operated dump valve with a setup like the grey water valve that Liberty uses? Basically the grey water is a manual operated valve that has a bracket attached to it, which allows an air piston to open/close it.
This grey valve setup, allows me to remove one nut, and manuall operate the valve. Would be good to have that option on the dump valve as well…
Right now you need to apply air to the dump valve to open and continue applying air to keep open. Would be good to simple remove a nut and open the valve manually.
This would be good for keeping the valve open for a while or in the event of an air issue (leaving valve, solenoid/manifold, etc.). That and it also allows for a less involved replacement of the air piston (not needing to replace the entire dump valve assembly).

I am inclined to agree that making the dump valves manually operated will have benefits. Having air operated valves, especially since they can be controlled from in the coach is also very beneficial as we have learned over the years.
We prefer to let the holding tank fill before we dump, and sometimes when it is time to dump it is not convenient to go outside, such as when it is pouring down rain. The air operated valve adds complexity but I am happy with that as an exchange for the convnience.
The ideal set up would be a valve that could be manually operated, but also operated remotely.

If want to dump the full tank and its pouring down rain, do you just push the button letting gravity and the immediate geography take over?

Just so it is clear, if I dump remotely such as from the inside of the coach it is only when the sewer hose is in place and connected to the RV park sewer. I haven’t done that more than a half dozen times, but if it is raining, the area next to the bay is muddy and I just don’t feel like slopping around in mud or getting wet you cannot beat the convenience.
I’m pretty sure the Dave Matthews band used the remote dump button, except they chose to disregard the fact they weren’t hooked to a sewer.

The air operated dump valve that they sell ($175) is the same product that was made by Owens Vavle. Many are probably on our buses including mine.
Dupree purchased the company a few years back. Steve mentioned that the air piston portion rarely fails but the seal/gate product will fail over time. Only costs about $200 on thier website.
He even quick shipped it to me to our remote camping area up here in Minnesota.

Hard to believe DMB’s hopefully commercial driver would intentionally do that. It’s a major fine. Maybe one of the pax thought it was the “flush” button? Inquiring minds want to know, lol.

From all indications the dumping was intentional, and the fines that were imposed are likely the smallest cost associated with that. It was reported a number of law suits were filed by passengers on the boat that was going under the bridge at the time.

The DMB bus was infact over an open sewer … The Chicago River … when the dumpingo occurred. There is a reason it doesn’t flow into Lake Michigan like God had originally intended, it now flows backward into the Illinois River and eventually to the Mississippi RIver.

Thatt appears to satisfy the state of Illinois but I don’t think the boat passenger suits were settiled.
