Liberty Grey Water Bypass
My grey water bypass is open all the time… the switches both inside and in the bay indicate that it’s closed but it isn’t… I turned them on and off several times the Open Lights go on and off as they should but the bypass is open all the time. Bloody annoying !!
Any ideas much appreciated.

The gray water bypass on our 99 XLV Elegant Lady appear to be operated by air. Our valve is on the driver’s side of the water bay next to the waste tank.
Maybe the air valve is stuck or there isn’t enough air pressure in the system. That’s happened to the dump valve for our fresh water tank a few times. Aux compressor on? If you can see it, you might be able to “pull” it shut.
Word of warning!!!! If the valve is stuck and there is any amount of pressure in the line and you unstick the valve with your fingers IT WILL slam shut against anything that happens to be in the mechanism … including your fingers. Ask me how I know.

Diane, until it’s fixed you could screw a cap on the end of the grey water exit so that the water will go into the tank.

Can someone please explain what a gray water bypass is. I obviously do not have one but am curious. Must be a Liberty thing.

In some situations it is permissible to allow gray water to dump onto the ground. Gray water can only be that from sinks or shower.
Some coaches have two tanks, one gray and one black so in that case the dump valve on the gray water tank can be left open. Some have only one tank, but may have a valve that allows gray water to dump on the ground without entering the holding tank.
It is a good solution when dry camping for an extended period and when there is no sewer available.

You should be able to unhook the the air valve linkage and manually close the valve Diane.

The valve was stuck open…only after many many open and close attempts it did finally close…
Mark…I did buy an expansion plug and put that in as well.
