  • Dash Air blowing hot air Then cooling

Posted by George on July 22, 2023 at 9:48 pm

1998 Royale dash air worked fine until last two trips.

Trip one Upon starting out air was extremely hot from vents and after couple recycle of AC switch and temperature control the air became cool and worked for the next two legs of 500 miles and two shutdowns at rest stops.

Had a conservation with Art Twadell and he advised to shut off water to the front coils.

Found the return gate valve in the second door behind tag on driver side and shut it down. Could not find the gate valve supply on passenger side.

TRIP TWO First leg went well cool air all the day. Second day started out blowing warn to hot air. Recycled ac switch and temperature control and after about 15 minutes began cooling properly.

Three separate stops for the night and then on the road again with great cooling for dash air.

The last leg of trip stop at rest stop with great cooling.,

Restart and again the hot air becomes an issue. recycled switches and temperature to get varying warm air to cool air to warm air . Finally after 50 t0 60 miles it stated to cool but not as cool as before the rest stop.

    Looking for suggestions

Similar issue with my OTR. Turned out to be the dash control unit. Nightmare – although the new unit looks and fits the same the electrons are different and Prevost Winter Garden had to add some kind of an adaptor to make it work. Just short of $3,000
