  • Roof air install ’01 H3 2 slide

Posted by Steve on November 16, 2021 at 8:33 am

We recently finished the install on prevostnoob’s coach. He elected to go with three Mach 8 Plus 13.5’s. We had an outlet temp reading of 28 degrees. My non slide coach was totally different from his so we took a top down approach to cutting the roof. Whereas, I had a metal duct running lengthwise down the center, this coach had none but did have two large bundles of strappped wires running the length on both sides of our opening. We had the aluminum roof with white sealant, three inches of blown in foam, a moisture barrier, a layer of plywood, an air gap, and 3/8 plywood with the wiring strapped on that the mirrored plastic ceiling is adhered to.We also put in his Nest thermostat and ran drains for his Coleman’s. The big difference was my coach has the breakers in the electrical bay and this one had them behind the controls for the inverters behind the smoked glass door mid coach and on the passenger side. Our Romex runs were considerably shortened. The hard part was fishing the Romex, drain tubes, and thermostat wires from the corner of our second opening over to the passenger wall on a diagonal. We even discovered a mouse in the wiring at the breakers. Ralf ran by me screaming like a baby girl, I expected an 8 lb rabid wharf rat but the poor 2 oz thing had given itself up by touching two busses in the panel.
