Relay/fuse for CruiseAir?
Our friend Raymond is here with us, and can’t get power to the front CruiseAir on his 2000 Featherlite/Vantare. He has power coming out of the circuit breaker, but no power to the unit. We have tried to look for a relay or fuse between the CB and the unit, but have been unsuccessful so far. Anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes I bump the cutoff breaker by the drivers area. He could check that just in case.

Chris, you are not talking about the SMX control, are you? It is not getting power either. Raymond is not aware of a cutoff switch in the driver area–what does it look like, if not the SMX?

right up up over my left shoulder when I’m in the driver seat there is a small breaker pad with cutoff s for all 4 of our cruise airs. I sometimes forget about them and have bumped 1 when getting set up , running the slide out, etc. .
Its worth taking a look to see if you might have the same setup.Chris

Raymond has nothing like that on his coach, so we’ll keep looking. -
The contol for the SMX is most likely buried in the upper front corner of #1 bay curbside. Geo.

It is not the SMX that is the problem. We jumped power to connections on the condensing unit in the spare tire compartment, and got power to the SMX, and the unit ran. Somewhere between the circuit breaker in the panel and the condensing unit is a short

A short or an open circuit?
I had a loose connection on a circuit breaker in my electrical panel create so much resistance the terminal connection burned through. I had not had a tripped breaker, but when I opened the panel what was left of the terminal had separated from the breaker.
A short is going to keep tripping the breaker.

Yes, it is really an open circuit. We checked power on the back side of the breaker, and there is power coming out of the breaker, but no power going into the unit. So someplace between the breaker and the condensing unit we lose power, and there is no details on Raymond’s schematics that show the wire runs, and a fuse or relay.

You still might have to find the controllerfor the SMX panel as it’s between the panel and the Cruiseair. Geo.

Thought I’d give you an update. The SMX panel is powered from the hot lead on the front unit. Since we were able to run the CruiseAir by running power directly to the unit, Raymond ran a new hot lead from the circuit breaker in the panel in the kitchen directly to the CruiseAir in the tire compartment, and now it works fine.
