HI PS on mid right rear cruise air
happy Memorial Day everyone from beautiful Ozarks RV Resort at Table Rock Lake!
We are getting a High PS code on our mid right rear cruise air after it runs for a lil bit. We replaced the fan on the roof but that didn’t help. Our cruise airs are in the basement. So just wondering if anyone can help us out.

High pressure is typicaly the result of a failed condener fan or plugged condenser coil. Check for fan operation at the condiensing unit.

we we replaced the fan but Butch says the fan tries to turn but doesn’t. Where is the other part located?
And how do we see if that is the problem?

I’m confused, if you have a Cruiseair, how can you have a fan on the roof?

Featherlite moved the condenser on some of the cruise airs to the roof and used an automotive radiator 12 volt fan.

The condenser coil is what the fan is cooling. If the fan won’t work your A/C will continue to shut down.

My units are all in the basement and I will get Hi PS if hot air from the ground is blowing on the coils. I would think on a really hot day on the roof it could get real hot up there causing a Hi PS shutdown.

Dawn says the fan tries but doesn’t turn. Could be the fan, or a capacitor, but whatever, if the fan isn’t turning the condenser is not cooling.

correct that their unit has the condensing unit on the roof with compressor in the bay….voltage check to fan, that tells which way to go as well….could be bad fan(had new parts fail). Wiring,connector…..

So. Should we call Fred at AAP and see if he can diagnose it with it over the phone? So with the old fan it would turn but then after a bit we would get the HI PS. With the new fan it won’t even turn. So we are going to put the old fan back on. All we can think is maybe the old fan runs but gets hot? and shuts itself off? But we don’t know if that is what happens. Its a weird setup really. If you think its something we can diagnose I’m all ears. I’m not sure how you unclog a condenser.

Until you are sure the fans are working as they should don’t worry about cleaning a condenser coil. Chances are that this entre problem is related exclusively to the fans not pulling enough air across the coils.

Like someone said are the fan getting electricity. Boy that roof set up would be good for water misters.

I learned something once again, never knew some put the evaporators on the roof, that has to solve the Hi Temp some will have while driving on hot pavement. Cool….

they make misters for this? Just seems like it would cause rust, minerals, water spots, corrosion?

I think a mister is for either extreme conditions like a week in Death Valley, or a poorly designed system.
I know of at least one Prevost owner that used a pressure switch in the AC system to cause misters to spray on the condensing coils of his Cruiseairs with success using house system water. The downside is a constant use is going to eventually cause mineral deposits because the entire principal is the misters work by drawin g heat from the coils to evaporate the water, leaving behind all the minerals in hard water.
