  • MARATHON COACH non-OTR Coaches

Taking Truk’s cue on the inverter/cruise or rooftop operation I’ll start here

we all have “salon, galley, bedroom A/C buttons.

Depending how our coaches are programmed default A/C operation off inverters is “galley and bedroom”. Find the button labeled “A/C Select”. If you have standard programming, the A/C Select button will turn off bedroom A/C unit then allowing salon to operate. Those with a fifth button besides salon, galley, bedroom, and the Select button, may more options

On one of our previous coaches, the 2000 H3-45 Marathon #586 had salon galley, bedroom and a “cockpit” cruise airs. This particular coach like a small group made had the cruise airs ducted thru the OTR ductwork ordered from Prevost. Salon cruise air was overhead. Galley unit blew out driverside windowsills, bedroom blew out both side window sills. The cockpit button controlled the unit cooling livingroom and kitchen curbside but you needed to press A/C select turning off bedroom unit. Our current coach 593XL40 has theee unit, four dash buttons. Galley and bedroom come on with inverter down the road. If we want salon on we press A/C select turning off bedroom activating salon

Since I know my Inverters power my Salon & Bedroom A/C’s, I’ll have to press the A/C Select next time, but it sounds like it will power the Galley A/C and not the Aux A/C unit.

    Thanks Jim and Chris.

Another mystery solved. I wondered what that A/C Select button was for.

Don’t have a Marathon – have a Vantare. Also have two Trace 4024’s. My biggest beef was that the forward air and the salon air were on the same leg as the refrigerator. I want the forward and salon airs on most of the time so I had to switch the salon air with the third (bathroom) unit so I could split the load. Luckily this was easily done at the breaker panel. Now I can power a/c’s to cool the front of the bus or cool down the stateroom while also keeping the salon cool. On the road it is all OTR.
