INVERTER PANEL DISPLAY IS GIBBERISH
Hi All
Inverter #1 monitor panel displays a bunch of letters and symbols, but otherwise appears to be functioning. This happened once before, but I was at Jeff Rowe’s at the time, and was not present at the coach when he fixed it. I have read the owner’s manual and a lot of threads on this forum harvested by the “search” feature, but to no avail. I am considering the reset of inverter #1 to default settings, but I am concerned about resetting normal parameters after the reset, as I do not know what they are. I also read about a reset button on the inverter itself, but I do not know if resetting at this location will cause the loss of the presently programmed parameters.
Any ideas?

I don’t know anything about what inverters were used on your coach, or what type of remotes or displays you have, but if my display starts showing gibberish (a highly technical term) my first reaction is to get my multi-tester to determine if the inverter(s) are stiff functioning, either as chargers or inverters.
That is going to tell me if I can deal with the issue at my leisure possibly after getting answers, or if I have an immediate need to react.

I have Trace Inverter settings that Donny Myers gave me for my Featherlite. Not too many changes from the defaults. Let me know if you need them. I will scan and email to you.

Use the inverter disconnects, turn off for 30 seconds and then turn back on. That may clear the gibberish, sort of a reboot. You can do the reset, but if you made any adjustments from the original Marathon settings they will be gone. Making setting changes on the Trace 4000’s is very easy.

Tom, referring to the “inverter disconnects,” are you talking about shutting them off at the breaker panel?
And if I reset the inverters via the “default settings” on the panel, I would think that the default settings have been established by Trace, not Marathon. Agreed?

Had one of mine do what your describeing go to the remote panel and remove the screws to get the unit in your hand, unplug the phone or data cable wait 10 or so seconds and simply replug the cable should reset the display . Mine did without any changes to the settings. Hope it works for you, Bill

Colt: Did you see the “gibberish” after attending the Fall County Bar Association Golf Outing? If a couple of days have gone by since the golf outing the digital readout might be clearer for you. Have you tried to read it again? Trying to give you another option to solve a problem with your coach.

Try what Bill said, that may work. If not, the cut-off’s are in your bay near the inverters. Mine are in the 2nd bay, driver side.
Not sure about the default whether it’s Marathon’s default or Trace.

Thank you very much. I will try the disconnect first, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll try unplugging the data cable.
And Dick, that was funny. But I can assure you, you won’t ever find me on a golf course. The last time I was on a golf course, I was a passenger in a 1978 Ford Torino, and we were doing a donut around the 7th hole. I think that was in 1979.

Oh Colt! Please don’t think I was inferring that you were golfing … would never do that. I have many lawyer acquaintances (can a lawyer ever really be “a friend”?) who don’t golf, have never golfed, and will never golf who have NEVER missed the County Bar Association Golf Outing.
