Leece-Neville Alternator Source
Anyone have a source for a Leece-Neville alternator for my house charging. The part number is A0012805LC. The regulator is causing me problems and it’s internal.
If I was home, I would have it rebuilt, but here in FL, haven’t found a rebuild shop on the SW FL coast near Ft Myers.

We’re not a 3rd world country here Florida. Try Tony’s Alternator and Starter in Ft Meyers or take a drive to Tampa of Ft Luderdale, both surely have a repair shop. I don’t know Tony, just found him on a web search.

When we were in POG Oklahoma City a few years ago I bought a new “backup” from the Prevost service center it cost me about $350. I finally installed the new one, just because I had it, into my Thompson a few months before I sold the bus. The unit I took out which was perfect, I think is home in NJ, but I’m not sure if I still have it. If you don’t get yours rebuilt or replaced let me know and I’ll look to see if I still have it when I get home next week.

Tom there is a shop by me called AAA Battery they rebuild anything family of good ol boys thier phone # 386 985 4616 In DeLeon Springs Travis is the sons name Art is the dad give them a call, I’ll help any way i can we are about 200 miles apart but shiping aint no big deal ,,, I reasently got one from the international dealer in Daytona Beach for $2290 they have specials in folders on thier counters all the time. Im sure he can do it a a few hours or trade you one out let me know exactly what you need and ill run by there 386 804 5619 my cell I took a pic of your alt lable ill go by there mon am if not sunday and see what he says

Thanks to Alvie, I found a great truck supply place in Ft. Myers called Dick Williams, Inc. Dick has tons of truck parts and the Alternator I needed, both re-man by Wilson and new on the shelf in stock. I decided on new, the price difference was minimal.

You could run by Nancy that this expensive new shinny alternator is her Christmas present.

I’m just curious as to why we cannot buy parts to rebuild an alternator anymore. In earlier times I remember rebuilding various GM alternators from parts available over the counter at the local NAPA store.
If I remember I could buy brushes, diode trios, the regulator and new bushings for fairly low prices and could essentially renew an alternator for less than buying a new or rebuilt one. Now I think the parts cost more than a rebuilt one, assuming the parts are even available.

The reason why, the rebuilder only installs the voltage reugaltor and will not repalce the trio diods and may by brushes if you lucky. These rebuild parts end up failing in short time after the 20 or 90 day warranty and must be replaced at owners expense.
