  • Trace RC6 remote control Question

Posted by George on January 5, 2020 at 9:41 pm

There is an article on the RC6 and RC7 remote control. It discusses in detail the 7 series controls but give a limited description for the 6.

My unit has the 14 volts and float charge led illuminated on each side of the RC6 unit yet the right side has a flashing led on the low battery error and sometimes the low bat is solid when the battery is reporting float charge.

Where does the error reporting coming from?

How does the unit monitor the voltage when there are two inverters?

Layman language for the division of the two inverters will be appreciated.

Still hoping to get info on what controls the error light on the remote panel for low battery when the panel reports 14 VDC and float charge status.

The left side of monitor panel reports normal.

Taking a guess her but maybe you are overloading it . Do you have something like a air unit on ? Like I said just taking a stab here . Good luck figuring it out .

What is the relationship of Xantrex to Trace?

Searching RV3012 brings up both of these as having the inverter.

Xantrex and Trace companies merged back in 2000.

    GMJDW,

You asked about where errors come from. Here is a basic overview of my system on a 2000 Marathon. I have two trace inverters SW4024MC2 in my Marathon. In the battery bay there are a series of current transducers mounted to vertical wall. These transducers are measuring the voltages for inverters, 12 house, and 24 house. Connected to these transducers are signal cabling that report back to Marathon displays and inverters. There is also a wire (yellow) that records the battery temperature for the inverters to make adjustments in charging cycle.

Your system will be different but should have a reporting method back to inverters and coach displays.

The bottom led on the RC6 has been blinking at me everytime I open the door to the monitor. It has an arrow with a low bat error pointing to the first led and other errors pointing to the next three leds up.

I learned from Inverter Contract Services that the blinking led was actually the indication of the load on the inverter. The load was the led lighting in the coach which ws not enough to cause a full 15 amp draw as indicated by the first led.

I also learned that a fault will actually light the corresponding LED and sound a beeper at the same time as long as the fault is present.

If I turned off all lights the LED went away. Turn on a light and the LED blinks.
