  • Newbie with CC key fob and entry door combo issue

Posted by Darian on February 3, 2017 at 9:49 am

We’re new to the Prevost community. We just purchased a 1999 CC XLV from Premium Coach in Gilbert, AZ (an excellent company to work with by the way). Previously, we owned 6 fiberglass coaches from different manufacturers and 1 fifth wheel, but this is a whole new ballgame.

We had Premium Coach install new tires, 8 – 8D AGM batteries, shocks, air bags, updated satellite and over-the-air antennas. and a 220V induction cooktop. The coach is beautiful and a dream to drive so we’re very happy with our decision to upgrade to the stainless fortress.

Here is our first issue, there are two key fobs that do not appear to work. We replaced the batteries to no avail. We’re not sure if something has been turned off in the alarm system and, if so, would that have something to do with the fobs not functioning? The red lights on the motion detectors inside the coach illuminate whenever someone moves around so they appear to work correctly.

We also do not have a combination for the number key pad on the entry door. Is there a way to reset the system so we can change the combo?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. We look forward to meeting many of you during our travels.

The entry code can be found on the Ford control unit behind the lower dash panel by the entry step directly in front of the passenger seat.

Daran, my 02 CC has the alarm module on the floor inside the service door but it should not effect your key fobs working. Ditto on what Tom said on the keypad combination. Mine was able to be seen with a flashlight and some straining without removing the panel. Once you have the combination it can be reprogrammed to numbers you choose. My coach also has an alarm switch under the dash left of the steering wheel which controls the alarm function. Key fobs can also be programmed to your vehicle and are available new and used on the net.

    George and Tom,

Thanks. I’ll spend some time searching for the code tomorrow and see what I can find on reprogramming the key pad and fobs.

Prevost began installing the keyless entry system on the XL platform effective with shell number X-6680. Prior to that we had a simpler system on the H shells but nothing on the XLs. Some of the converters installed their own brand of alarm systems on earlier units built on the XL shell.

If you have a 1999 conversion it was probably built on a 1998 chassis and therefore should not have the Prevost system installed. Look for the Ford module under the dash behind the panel just inside the door on the right. The module will be normally on the lower right and you will have a relay panel of 4 or 5 relays mounted just about center to the opening you get with the panel removed.

This way you can verify if it is a Prevost system (no matter who installed it) . Troubleshooting will be simpler this way.
