Loss of shore power to auxiliary breaker panel
No power is going to the Aux A.C. breaker panel from shore power, but it is powered when I turn on the generator. Discovered this when Linda went to use the washing machine and it would not power up. Checked all circuit breakers and found nothing tripped. Checked the inverters, all seems normal. I disconnected the external power cord, started the generator and the Aux A.C. breaker panel powered up as did the washing machine. She was using the slow-cooker and bread machine at the time, so it almost seemed like some kind of power shedding… but the problem still exists with no other appliances running. Not even A/C since the temps are cool here. I’m hoping it’s something simple and looking for clues from the forum.

Inside your aux box should be a small circuit board that is your time delay…I would start there

Thanks, Jeff…your suggestion pointed me in the right direction. I found the problem in the power monitor box where a relay (RH2B) was open. I had a spare relay on board and installed it. All relays closed and all is working now.

Kirby, can you give me the location of the faulty part? Where can I buy one. I am 1500 miles from home sitting in the KOA in West Glacier and my sub panel is dead. No water heater, cook top, compactor or salon ac. I have Marathon 40’ #399 so chances are good I may have the same problem Thank you!

Jeff, your scenario is worse than mine was as our water heater is not in the sub panel. In fact, we can get by without most of what’s in our sub panel. Anyway, I can only tell you what my experience was. I looked down in my bays and found a box marked “Power Monitors”. Inside that box I found a pair of power monitors with two plug-in clear plastic relays. One of the relays was showing a tattle-tale red light. I happened to have a spare so I installed it and the sub panel came to life. Then I ordered 4 more relays to have on hand. I got IDEC brand because that’s what was there; the relay number is RH2B-UL-DC12V. Oddly, the newer relays don’t seem to have a tattle-tale light.

Thank you. I’m glad we can still get hot water from other power sources. am able to run the generator to get full power so at least my wife speaks to me. Thanks again. Jeff
