  • Holding Tank Light Indicators

Posted by Chuck on June 26, 2017 at 2:55 pm

These lights indicate the amount of waste in the holding tank and will not come on inside the coach but do register out in the water bay.

The fresh water tank lights work perfectly; Any suggestions

    Is it turned on?

The display in the coach is connected to the one at the holding tank and will not work unless both are turned on.

Sorry to be redundant but when you say it is “turned on” inside the bus; is the switch on and the green power indicator is on but the level indicator lights not working? Or is the switch on and you show nothing for power to that unit?

Having taken mine apart to reset the trimpots, the plumbing bay unit is designed to be the main control. The fresh water side unit and the unit inside the bus are just slave units (like Jon said). With that, there are a bunch of wires stuffed into the back of the main unit slots. A signal wire or power wire may have come lose and you are not getting a reading inside. The holes are really designed to only insert one wire but since the other units read off of it, there could be one that popped out if the set screw has come lose.

While trouble shooting a level indicator, I had swapped the plumbing side unit with the fresh water side unit and it took alot of patients to get all those wires to fit into the back of the main unit.

Tank Sentry claims the readout units to be very reliable (unless you short one out by inserting the wrong wire into the wrong slot, ask me how I know…just kidding, it’s written on the back of the unit) but the trimpots can become very wacky and out of sync giving you no readout on the indicator unit.

I have the whole booket on reseting the trimpots but not with me. Tank Sentry’s techs were very helpful getting me back on track trying to reset it when I first got my coach.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Patrick and yes the inside lites along with the power indicator lite does not come on. So as you explain that the inside lite is a slave to the outside indicator you may be correct that a wire has lost its contact. I will take a look at that and if it is obvious I can fix it.
