  • Marker and Clearance Lights

Posted by Chuck on December 17, 2017 at 7:05 pm

Having searched for a fuse maybe or something and having no luck; why would the side Marker and Clearance Lights not come on at night and anytime. Manual says to push headlight switch up on click and they should appear-no luck. Could it be a relay? Headlights work as well as fog and running lights. We did have Prevost replace fog and running lights; could this have anything to do with it?

I was checking our lights once and the side lights didn’t come on when turning on the master headlight switch. I realized that the ignition has to be on for the marker and side lights to work (or engine running).

You may have tried this but just wanted to mention.

Is one or the other or both of the chassis master switches (12volt and 24 volt) switched off by chance? I know that sounds stupid, but I know its happened …

Otherwise (1) I would expect there to be a fuse in the big electrical box in the rear engine bay or (2) maybe a wire or two was left off or damaged when those other lights were worked on. I’d just look around until I find the fuse and then try to follow the wiring.

I don’t have the time now to do a check on what the problem could be, but some things came immediately to mind.

Try to cycle the courtesy light switch on the end of the windshield wiper stalk. Also see if there is a relay dedicated to those lights in the electric box. If so, swap it with a different relay. Also make sure a circuit breaker has not tripped.

On my coach, there is one or more relays in the electrical panel outside driver area. I have experienced a failure.

Clearance lights should come on with the headlight switch in parking mode or headlight mode.

Thanks everyone; it doesn’t appear to be a relay or CB and the headlight switch doesn’t respond in the first click?

Back to the wiring and some more research.
