  • High voltage?

Posted by Michael on September 2, 2023 at 8:38 pm

We are plugged into a 50amp outlet using a surge protector. The input reading on the surge protector is 123 and 124. My monitor panel in the bus reads 142 and 137 volts. What is happening?

Using a digital multimeter, measure voltage at the pedestal outlet by very slightly unplugging the surge protector at the pedestal outlet, then measure voltage again just after the surge protector where the shore cord plugs in to it.

a faulty or partially open neutral is a possibility.

I would think if it was that high the surge protector should of detected high voltage and shut it down??

I think what he is asking is why is there a difference comparing the pole and the Bus.

Yes, I do not understand why I have different voltage readings outside vs inside. I checked the input and output voltage on both legs of the surge protector and all readings are 123 +/- 0.5 volts. I have checked various outlets throughout the bus and all read a consistent 122.8-123.4 volts. I checked at the input terminals on the back of the monitor gauge (blue and yellow terminal in photo 1) and get the same readings. The gauges still read high (see photo 2).

Could I possibly have faulty gauges?
