  • Marathon Interior Lighting Question

Posted by Tad on July 13, 2017 at 11:12 am

Some of my interior lighting has ceased working. The soffit lighting works, accent lights work, but other ceiling lights are inoperative. I have reset the coach, but that did not bring it back on line. Any suggestions?

    Tad,

You know there are Marathon fuses and breakers in your coach. Mine are in the rear closet and in the front overhead compartment.

I’ve had to replace one blown fuse which operated my under-cabinet bathroom lighting.

Have your replaced your halogen lights with LED lights yet? May also be some burned out bulbs. We highly recommend replacing all your halogen lights with LED lights for power management and heat control.

I had something similar happen last March. All breakers were fine and the 10A fuses in the techlink switches were ok. I thought one of the dual port techlink switches in the rear of the bus was bad because I lost two light strings. Not so-just a network initialization issue. I stopped at Marathon in Coburg and they reinitialized the switch network via an access port above the entry door. Glad they still have the Techlink portable computer for our generation of buses. Just took 30 minutes and they only charged $46.

Marathon does not know what causes the issue. On very rare occasions one of the switches seems to lose their network ID. My speculation is that it may have something to do with heat. When our two light strings went out, the sun was beating on the passenger rear side where the Techlink switches are and we had the two light strings on for several hours. I measured air temps behind the vinyl cover in the closet and I saw up to 100 deg F. Just opening the vinyl cover on top and bottom helps quite a bit.
