Heart 25 – is it dead?

I have 2 Heart Freedom 25’s in my 98 Liberty coach. Today, inverter 2 stopped working. No indicator lights, etc. I checked the resets, and everything looked OK. This means I have lost half of my interior power and a few other things. Any suggestion on where to start?

Did you check the breaker switch on the front of the invertor itself? MIne are mounted so deep in the bay it is hard to tell if the breaker has popped out or not.
Is yours 24v or 12v? -
I did check the breakers, looked fine, I pushed and wiggled them just to make sure.

If you find your Heart 25 is gone, we have a member that has two for sale on the Flea Market.
I assume you made sure your charger breaker switch on the panel is in the on position and not tripped or off.

The definition of failure needs to be much more specific.
First, are you talking about no power getting to the 120VAC inverter circuits when not connected to shore power or with the generator running?
Or are you talking about the 120VAC inverter circuits are not getting power when connected to shore or generator power?
If connected to shore or generator power is the inverter functioning as a battery charger?
The questions above about verifying a CB has not tripped are valid.

If the flea market inverters were 12v I would buy one for a spare, but I think they’re 24v.

Just a follow up, a failed inverter on a 15+ year old coach is repairable, and not an expensive repair in some instances. But it might be an opportunity to replace the original inverters with pure sine wave inverters such as Magnums. The benefit to that is that other appliances and devices might be due for replacement, such as TVs or the refrigerator, some of which will need pure sine wave power.

I have one 12v Freedom 25 inverter that was working fine when we took it out. Our coach had 2 freedom 25 inverters, and one decided to take a hike last year – we replaced them both with new Magnums. If you do have a problem, and can’t repair yours, or want to delay the replacement of your inverters for a bit, drop me an email. We’ll be in the Nashville, TN area (near the inverter) for the next 2-3 weeks. After that, it would be tough for me to retrieve it from the storage place because we’ll be leaving the area.

Well I guess I have a dead inverter. Local guys say that the batteries are also ‘circling the drain’. Any suggestions? What is the hot, new setup? I don’t have an unlimited budget… I’m listening, my friends.

I believe the Freedom 25 also has an internal fuse. If I remember right it is on the bottom someplace. Ours is older than yours and after I had the fuse replaced in 2002, It has worked fine since.

Call Jeff Rowe I think he might have two 24 v inverters that might work for you, but if you are going with new ones put Magnums in and new Lifeline batteries in

After checking further into the problem, we found some loose connections and the batteries checked out OK after all. The alternator was not putting out any juice, so it has been replaced. It looks like 1 inverter will get me going again. Any suggestions on whether I should move the old one to the secondary position and put the new one in the primary charge spot?

Your coach does not have a primary and secondary set up unless the original configuration of the electrical system as it applies to the inverters was modified.
One of your inverters handles some of the inverter circuits, and the other handles the remaining inverter circuits. At one time I know which inverter handled what, but someone who knows or has a better memory can tell you which is which.
If you have one inverter the only way you will not lose some circuits is to ties the two inverter bus bars together in the electrical panel. That is a Mickey Mouse solution and limits your use of circuits. If you have two inverters you might want to consider using the newest (most reliable) on the circuits that include the refrigerator.
I think your inverter circuits are refrigerator, forward outlets, TVs, rear outlets, aux compressor, microwave, and maybe coffee maker. I just don’t know which are on inverter 1 or inverter 2.

My reason for asking is my manual says that while on shore power to run inverter #1 to keep the batteries charged. I thought that installing the new one in the #1 position might be a good idea…
