Help, my inside lights are out
Posted by Travis on July 24, 2014 at 6:54 pmfor some reason, all of the lights in our coach are out. All bathroom, dining room and bedroom lights. Closet lights and entry lights work. We are plugged in to 50 amp. They worked one day and then nothing. Could it be the solenoid ? Or a fuse? Thanks for any suggestions.

Make sure you haven’t accidentally hit the lighting master switches near the front entry.
It’s easy to do and will definitely kill all your lighting..
Just a thought…..I know I’ve done it enough times!!

When mine did that, it was the continuous duty solenoid in the front lower compartment.

Elegant Lady would be a 24V coach. If the master hasn’t been turned off it is likely a relay in the electric bay.

Travis,
I do not have a Liberty so take this as just a general description of what a relay does.
Most large relays that are used to pass 12 or 24 volts of high amps have 2 small and 2 large connections.
the 2 small connections are used to engage or disengage the relay, usally from a switch that controls whatever that relay is designed to do.
The 2 large connectors are what actually pass the voltage and amps from 1side of the relay to the other side.
So, if the relay has power on one large connector and not the other large connector, then it is either in an “off” postion at the switch or the relay is bad.
If there is voltage on both large connectors then the relay is working.
To test put a voltmeter postive probe between 1 large conenctor at a time and the other volt meter probe to a good ground. It should regesitor somewhere around 12.7 to 13.2 (more or less) for a 12 volt system and double that for a 24 volt system.

Travis,
Jeff is undoubtedly going to be able to give you the circuit or relay number if you give him your Liberty coach number.. But if you have the Allen Bradley system on the rear wall of the electrical compartment I sometimes can isolate the bad relay in that section by having my wife click on the switch frquently while I look for the red light to go on and off. That identifies the circuit. The little green relays are in a bank and to test the one that is under the red light pull it and replace it with any other one. Then if the relay was the problem you should be working again. If not you might have to look further.
When a full set of lights fails to function it could be anything ranging from a bad relay, tripped fuse or circuit breaker.

I had this happen to me and it was the breaker directly inline with the continuous solenoid and coming out of the inverter on the wall in the bay. It had tripped and it is a very different kind of breaker switch. Once I re-set it the system came back online and all the lighting worked properly. The line of switches on the far right column did not work until the breaker was re-set. It is all of my interior lighting, aux pump and a few other items. They are all on the DC side of the panel. Not sure if this helps but I did have the same problem.
