  • Any Marathon Techlink experts?

I’m trying to track down why my Cadet (120V) baseboard heater in the bedroom does not come on. The heaters in the galley and bathroom work and I can hear their relays (rear closet) click when I turn “120V Heat” on. The relay for the stateroom does not engage. So it is either the Honeywell thermostat, the Techlink wiring or one of the relays.

Looks like Techlink uses microprocessor controlled switchpads that encode commands onto a serial bus using Ethernet cables. The serial bus gets routed to the wiring closet in the back to either microprocessor controlled relay switches or FET (solid state) switches. It is nicely done but tough to trouble shoot without a schematic and the Techlink tools.

Do we have anybody with experience in this area?

Not a Techlink expert, but the Cadet heaters have an over temperature reset button on them. You slide the unit out and it is on the top. It might also be burned out. I have replaced two of mine.

I shouldn’t be trying to answer a Marathon question due to lack of knowledge, but some issues with toe space heaters are generic.

Cupcar is right about the over temp. The ones I have had apart did not have a reset, but had a thermostat that opened the circuit on temperature rise. Usually after the fan shut off the thermostat opened because of no air flow and the residual heat still in the heating element. Regardless it is worth checking for an open circuit.

I also had toe space heaters with a fusible link. When that opened it killed power to the unit.

But before I checked anything inside the heater I would check the outlet or power supply to the unit for power. If no power I would follow the circuit back until I found where it is open, May not be techlink but a failed relay.

Remember all of the above advice comes from a Liberty owner so take it with a grain of salt.

Finally tracked it down to the analog Honeywell thermostat in the stateroom. A loose connector in one of the wires. The Cadet and the Webasto blower in the stateroom are working fine now. Glad I did not have to tackle the Techlink part of the system.
