Exterior LED Replacement
I have just replaced all my exterior lights with the festoon type LEDs that Peter recommended and they are great. They are all working but I haven’t turned them all on at the same time yet as Peter mentioned that he had to change out his fuse from 15amp to a 20amp and in his coach it was fuse number 47.
I just looked in my panel and I don’t have a 47 it goes from 45-49 … also my bus is an H not an XLII and a different year model so it probably isn’t the same anyway but I would have just pulled that fuse to see.I wondered if anyone just happens to know which fuse number it might be in an ’05 Liberty H ?
I am also baffled as to why the fuse would need to be bigger when I thought the draw would be less?

We cannot figure out why Peter experienced that need to increase the fuse size.
LED lights have a substantially lower current draw than their incandescent counterparts so I would suggest you flip them all on all at once.
If Jeff is reading this thread he can probably tell you the circuit number the lights are on in case you trip a breaker or pop a fuse.

When I changed out all the Festoon’s to LED on my Liberty nothing needed to be done to the fuse Diane. The amp draw is much less with LED.

I do not know why it blew the fuse , I guess I could have put in another 15 amp fuse but I only had a 20 amp but it’s all good now, maybe the way I put them in , I thought they drew less power too, but all works good now , glad they worked for you guys . I have all new LEDs for the house part of the coach ……

Thanks so much Peter… I will turn them all on today and see how it goes. Which ones did you buy for the house? Aif If I recall correctly you said they weren’t as bright as the original ones.. do you know what color I would need for them to be as bright as the original ones? So many variations…but as our eyes get older they beg for more light.
Also are they 24Volt or 12Volt ? I ask because I have some G4 LEDs that I used in the Vantare that were 12 Volt and I tried one and it lit up for a couple of minutes then started smoking so I put the halogen one back in and all was well….made me think they must be 24Volt.
The G4’s I had were all 12Volt.
Again Peter thanks so much for the info… tell Tom and Nancy hi if they’re still there with you… your place is magnificent… looks like something from a movie !!

I ordered the same ones tom did for his liberty there is a post or email tom he has the numbers I can try and take pic of them and send it to you they work great they are warm white just about same color as old halogen bulbs

I turned on all the exterior LEDs on tonight for 3 hours and didn’t blow the fuse so that was good news !!I will count my interior lights tomorrow and order them.

Replaced a few of old bulbs with new ones from superbright and the old ones are brighter. Am I missing something?

I am not sure what you ordered… I ordered the ones that PeterC recommended and they are great.. I am only talking about my Port, Aft and Stbd exterior lights.
They are the festoon type. Mine are much brighter than the older yellow looking ones.Diane

I did order the ones he described. I only got the amber ones to try. My original bulbs in the amber side lights were clear and appear to be brighter than the new ones. Maybe someone had already replaced these. Not sure?

The ones PeterC described were not amber or colored they were white and not marker lights they are docking lights.
Having said that.. I’m not sure we’re discussing the same thing… also I don’t know your conversion or year as you don’t have it listed on the bottom of the page, it would help a lot if we knew that info… can you update you profile with that info, it makes a lot of difference when trying to help out.

I just updated profile with Bus info. as per Dianes suggestion. I am talking about the 2 amber lights on each side of bus near the front. I am not sure you call them running , clearance or whatever lights. A note to Truk my bulbs are the round base type not the festoon.
