Sure Power Recall
Well, the hits keep coming.New microwave/convection (still under warranty) died and took 2 weeks to fix. As soon as that worked, the Asko washer died. Hopefully it’s a pump and can be fixed but otherwise that puppy has to go out the bedroom window as it won’t fit down our hallway. And here we are at Marathon in Oregon, having the Sure Power recall taken care of. They had to power down the coach (which by the way they insisted we never do when we get the HydraLift for the motorcycle installed), and when they powered it back up, it blew the TechLink “mini-pc.” Yes, we are 1 of the 3 buses this happened to, out of the 69 recalls they’ve done. Grr. At least we parked near the laundry!! Apparently our capacitors were swollen and burst. Huh? I only remember the “flux capacitor” from Back to the Future . . . I may be a web programmer but my knowledge ends when the guts of a computer show up!!

We’ve had some serious discussions on here about motorcycle lifts and the resulting damage.
I know folks like the convenience, but it is probable you are well in excess of the limits and the end result can make the problems you are experiencing seem like minor issues.

Hang in there John, you’ll get it all behind you, well sorta.:) I’ve been waiting for a Sure Power replacement now 7 weeks and they told me yesterday I would have it less than 2 weeks from now. Lucky for me, my Marathon has Vanners, but someone along with way stuck in a Sure Power for the chassis instead of just replacing the Vanner.

When Marathon did the recall on our coach the Ticklink also died, Leon got engineering to fix it they told me the issue was a bad battery in the mini computer. Also the auxiliary timer burned out. The repairs after the recall was $2500 not bad.
I still think they should pay for all repairs that occurred after the recall work.
The next time I will walk Leon through the coach and till him I want the coach to be in the same working order he received it.

I thought they should pay for the repairs, too. They maintained that it would have happened sooner or later and that the surge in power from powering the bus back up just hastened the demise of the pc. My theory is that they pay it, and then they can bill SurePower if they want to. They didn’t buy my theory, however. I asked them if the bus would be okay with having all the power cut and they assured me it would be. Everything worked that morning . . . except the washer, of course!

By the way, what is the auxillary timer? John would probably know, but you guys have to realize that 95% of the Lamb posts are from me! We’re leaving Friday, hopefully, and we’re both worried about another system being damaged by this recall thing. Like something we won’t discover until we’re halfway to Blanchard!

The auxiliary timer is a delay timer that active the shore power to the washer dryer cook top and other. if your washer dryer cook top and dishwasher are running your OK.
I was happy they fixed the failed parts within few minutes that will not happened at other service provider.

the problems you are experiencing would indicate a power supply problem now or in the recent past. A new microwave, a washer, a PC all going out in sequence is highly unlikely unless there was some kind of power anomaly (Lightning strike nearby, bad neutral etc)
Also, I don’t see how turning on power should cause a surge. But there was a time (2000-2004) when many electrolyte capacitors from Taiwan were going bad causing a lot of warranty claims. Your mini-PC might be from this era. But if it was it would have failed a long time ago.
I have completely turned off our ’99 Marathon tens of times when we stored it without power. No issues ever.
A lightning strike even if pretty far away can create all kinds of havoc with our all electric buses. This is one of the reasons I unplug and run the generator when a storm comes through a campground. I’m usually the only one that does…..The usual line protection devices won’t do much for lightning strikes.

That’s a valid point about a power supply problem. However, I think it was just a string of unlikely coincidences!! A very persistent and professional guy at Marathon (Wes, I think) was determined that he could figure out the washer. We heard the pump humming, so we knew it was getting the signal to work. Turns out that in the evacuation tube, not the other tube the book said to check, he found 30 cents and a bunch of lint. That’s all it took, and it’s working fine.
Bladder is replaced, and everything **knock on wood** seems fine. On a side note, they had to leave our slide out after the bladder was replaced for the adhesive to set. They drove us out of the service bay and to our spot on the lot with the slide out. THAT was a weird experience!

Are they Prevost slide seals? There is no adhesive to set because the Prevost seals use a very strong double faced tape to secure the seal. Sikaflex is used beneath the top angles but that sets with the angles in place.
If it is a Prevost slide all safety devices were over-ridden.

I’d like to know how they override the system to move it. My transmission will not engage with the slide out.

I can only speak about my vintage, which was the last version prior to the “pinless” slides.
I have a row of circuit breakers and if I trip them all I have over-riddent the safety features. That I will only do if all attempts to correct a problem fail.

Bernie – There was an override switch in the front driver’s side door bay. I did enjoy the double takes from people staying in the lot as we drove past and into our spot. 🙂

I have Valid slides on my 07 Marathon and Valid can walk you thru disabling the transmission overide to move the coach… I found out the hard when trying to leave the Alaskan Ferry when mine wouldn’t got into drive… Luke from valid talked me thru turning it off and once we figured it all out turning it back on.
