  • Side Courtesy Lights

Posted by glen on June 22, 2019 at 8:29 am

Have 3 down each side with switch inside on dash to light up the area down each side of coach. The incandescent bulbs have caused a couple of the plastic lenses to melt after being left on overnight. Who makes a replacement with a flat back. Ordered a couple chevy back dome lights but didn’t want to cut any bigger whole to mount. Want LED’s as the chevy model was incandescent as well. Know you can change bulbs but looking for another solution.

I believe Liberty Coach markets that in chrome and led. You would probably be well advised to sit down prior to pricing them.

Will check into Liberty Coach lights. Want them to be metal if I can get them. Not plastic. The Chevy cab lights were metal and heavy but weren’t flat on the backside. Don’t care what they cost as I’ll borrow money off Harry. He’s the one with all the dust.

Our Liberty has 1973-87 Chevy/GMC rear cargo light assemblies, 14 of them.

    USA1Industries sells the entire assembly:

They also sell the lens only: Lens Only link

We put new lenses on ours w/LED 44mm feston soft white bulbs, simular similar to this: Bulb link

Take a look at the Whelen they are very bright and you can buy them on Amazon. I have 3 down the curb side used as patio lights, just like the ones on newer Marathon’s.

Perimeter Enhancement Light, Super-LED®, Steady White

    Thanks, Mark.

    You just cost me $137.50

But, looks like just what I was looking for.

    Thanks again, really!

Sorry Les I don’t me to be a bad influence, but my old Chevy lights were crazed and cracked and not very bright. These things will light up your life, very bright, don’t hot like the old ones. I think you will like the light output.

Mark, this is the pathetic little “Porch” light, and yes it is on. I did replace the festoon bulb with a brighter LED bulb and it helped slightly but it really does little in illuminating the entry area.

I’m looking forward to shedding some light on the subject….

    Happy Trails,

Les I have one of those up above my entry door, your correct it’s wasn’t very bright so I ordered a new led festoon bulb, better but not great. These Whelen lights are very bright and I have 3 that come on with my patio light switch. The only negative is that the case is not metal like the old ones were, but I got past that really quickly with the way the look when on. I’ve had numerous people stop by and ask where I got them.

Thanks to Mark, my entry is now well lighted. Look at my earlier post in this thread and you will see the wimpy round porch light. Below shows the new light that Mark recommended.

    Nice and bright!
